Dear Chantilly Community,
WE have had a wonderful, full week at Chantilly HS full of appreciation activities for our outstanding Chantilly Faculty and staff as we have celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. WE are grateful for the dedication, committment, and partnership between staff, students and families at Chantilly. Thank you to our PTSA and all who donated to the wish list to provide snacks and gifts for our staff.
The year is winding down fast and we are launching many of our Seniors into their Charging Forward internships next week. We look forward to their presentations when they return and share their learning and experiences later this month. Our Chargers Lead the Charge in all that they do!
Chantilly Invitational Jazz Festival
This weekend, Chantilly HS will welcome 35 middle school, high school, and community jazz groups from the DMV region for our annual Chantilly Invitational Jazz Festival! The Chantilly Invitational Jazz Festival provides an opportunity for high school, professional jazz musicians, and educators to share, learn, and compete.
Over the years, bands, combos, and jazz ensembles from Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, and the District of Columbia have participated. In addition to this year’s middle school and high school ensembles, we’re delighted to welcome JazzWorx, the Winchester Jazz Collective, and the United States Navy Band Commodores Sextet as our feature ensembles.
Visit our Chantilly Website to view the schedule!

Arrival Changes May 4 to 15:
Security Screening: Door 10 Entrance Moving to Door 11 May 4 to May 15
- Students who enter the building via Door 10 in the mornings should plan to move over to Door 11 (by the cafeteria) from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 15. The gym lobby will be closed during these 2 weeks for AP testing.
- All AP testers are encouraged to arrive by 7:40 a.m. and use the Door 11 entrance to access the building.
- Students who are testing are reminded to arrive to school with only their school-issued device, charger, water, snack, pens/pencils, and approved medication or college board approved materials. Please do not bring backpacks, bags, or other materials as this will slow down security screening and all materials must be stored away from the testing area.
- Students may use a clear bag to carry the above-noted materials.
- Students who are AP testing in the afternoon and will be arriving at 11:45 a.m. should enter at Door 1 and pass through the security screening before arriving to their testing location.
- We will resume security screening back at Door 10 on Monday, May 18.
Chantilly End of Year Information
The Chantilly High School webpage has been updated to include our Spring SOL Schedule, Final Exam schedule and other end of year information. AP Exam dates can also be found on the site.
Students will be participating in spring assessments based on their grade level and courses. This includes summative assessments like Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, which measure what a student knows, and progress assessments like Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, which measure where they are in their learning.
We encourage all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.
Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.
It is important that students attend school on scheduled testing dates. If you are aware of a conflict that may cause your student to miss a test, please notify us as soon as possible.
Learn more about how to support your child and why test participation matters.
Updates to 2026 to 2027 School Year Calendar
The School Board voted to direct the superintendent to designate Veterans Day as a standard instructional day for the 2026 to 2027 school year. Because this day was added, the 2026 to 2027 school year will now end for students on Wednesday, June 16, 2027. Find additional information on BoardDocs. View the updated complete school year calendar on FCPS’ website.
The last day of school for the current school year — Wednesday, June 17, 2026 — has not changed.
Students Graduating or Leaving Us - Download your Google Drive
For any Chantilly HS students leaving FCPS, your Google Workspace account will be automatically deactivated the day after your last full day of enrollment. Once your account is deactivated, you will not be able to login to your FCPS Google account or access your FCPS Gmail. It is important that you download any files you wish to keep before your last day of school in FCPS.
The download process of files can take several days, so please make sure to give yourself plenty of time. Students have the option to use Google Takeout to export their files. Visit Google’s directions here: How to download your Google data using Takeout. It’s important to know that you will only be able to export files for which you are the owner. If you’d prefer to manually select files from your Drive to download, follow the Downloading Your Data instructions on the Google Workspace Information for Students and Parents page of the FCPS website.
💻FCPS Issued Chromebook for Testing
As we prepare for the spring testing window, all students should be bringing their FCPS issued Chromebook to school daily in preparation for testing. All SOL and AP tests must be completed on the FCPS issued Chromebook. Students should visit the Tech Office if their device is in need of repair. They should be able to access the TestNav or Bluebook apps in kiosk mode.

Checking out early?
The best and most efficient way to check your student out of school early is to send a note with them to take to their Subschool Office in the morning! Or call your child's subschool before 9 a.m. to request early dismissal. You can find the phone numbers at the bottom of this email and on the Chantilly Attendance page.
- Your student will receive a pass to leave class at the time you specify.
- You won't need to come inside the school; your student will simply come out to meet you.
Please be aware that if you sign your student out in person, it can take up to 30 minutes for the pass to reach them. Sending a note is always the quickest option!
Important Reminders:
-
Email is not accepted for reporting absences or early checkouts.
- If a student becomes sick during the school day, they must be checked out through the clinic, not the Subschool Office, or by text with the student..
Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools
The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.
Volunteer FCPS is how FCPS provides a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.
Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels
Due to the overwhelming response, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.
Field trip chaperone opportunities will now be classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).
To ensure continuous safety, all new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).
Visit the Volunteer FCPS website to complete a volunteer orientation. View Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
