Principal Message

Dear Roadrunner families,

As we prepare for next week’s SOL assessments, we are excited to build positive energy from our SOL Pep Rally this afternoon. This is a great opportunity to encourage your child and remind them that they are ready to show what they know. Here are a few steps to ensure your child is ready for the SOL next week.

  • Please ensure they get a good night’s rest.
  • Eat a healthy dinner the evening before and have a nutritious breakfast each morning of testing.
  • Arriving at school on time also helps to reduce stress
  • We encourage families to offer words of encouragement and reassurance the morning of each test.
  • Refrain from discussing the SOL as a “make or break” test, as this can unintentionally increase student anxiety. Our goal is for every student to feel supported, confident, and ready to do their best.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we strongly encourage all families to join us in celebrating our staff for all the magnificent things they do for your child.

Have a Great Day,

Dr. Legagneur, Mr. Barton, Ms. Champion

Boundary Meeting

I know several families shared their disappointment with me that the May 8th Boundary Meeting was not changed. While they are not able to move the May 8 meeting, FCPS is planning an additional meeting specifically with the Lorton Station community to ensure there are multiple opportunities for engagement. Dr. King has pledged to make sure that materials and updates from the May 8th meeting are shared so that those who cannot attend still have access to the information. Dr. King truly values our community’s voice and appreciates our understanding as we work to balance these scheduling complexities. Additionally, FCPS has scheduled another boundary meeting at Lorton Station on the following date. This will allow us to celebrate our community and attend the Boundary Meeting the following week to listen to proposals and ask questions.

Join us for Multicultural Night on May 8, 2026! This is an opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the diverse cultures that make our school community special. Families are invited to share a place that is meaningful to them, such as their home country, a place they’ve lived or visited, their heritage, or a region they connect with. All families are welcome; come learn, share, and connect!

April is the Month of the Military Child! Every year, we take the opportunity to recognize military-connected youth for their service and contribution to our community. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have over 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community and recognize their strength and resilience.

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.

Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.

FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.

Want a quick way to recognize an employee or team? Share an FCPS CARES! Families, colleagues, and students are all invited to submit. The FCPS CARES is automatically sent to the recipient(s) and their supervisor, and is posted on fcps.edu. Additionally, each month one school in our region wins a staff celebration party from HR. Encourage your community to show our staff that their hard work is appreciated
