Schedule Change Policy for SY25-26

All prior schedule change request windows have closed for the School Year 2025-2026.

  • February 9, 2026: No schedule changes will be permitted after this time through end of School Year (this includes Off Campus Waivers).

Schedule Change Policy for SY26-27

In order to support students in settling into a consistent class schedule, please see the timeline for schedule changes for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • April 6-24, 2026: Course Change Request for SY26-27 is open
    • Please submit the Course Change Request Google Form 
    • No more course change requests for SY26-27 will be accepted after April 24, 2026 and students will need to wait until school starts. We have to ensure that new student transfers to Justice are able to still have seats available in needed courses for graduation.
  • April 25-September 4, 2026: No Schedule Changes will be made in order to support new student/transfer registrations, final grades from summer programming, hard conflicts, errors in placement, or discussions on any schedule changes that occurred over the summer
  • September 8-25, 2026:Schedule Change Requests open for both Elective and Academic Level. All requests are pending space availability in the requested course and pending parent, teacher, and Subject Administrator approval. Schedule Change Request Form will be located in Student Services. All elective course changes must be completed within this window (Example: Art 1 to Photography 1).
  • September 28, 2026-January 29, 2027:
    • No Elective Change Requests
    • All Academic Level Change Requests (Example: English 9 Honors to English 9) must complete the Academic Improvement Plan that involves a parent/teacher/student conference. The Academic Improvement Plan form will be located in Student Services.
    • After the Academic Improvement Plan is completed and the student still wishes to move forward with the academic level change, the schedule request will be reviewed by a committee. Approval is not guaranteed and is based on seat availability in the requested course
  • November 5, 2026 and Beyond: Last day to drop a course without it going on the student’s transcript as a Withdrawal Pass (WP) or a Withdrawal Fail (WF). Please see FCPS Regulation 2445.7 - Policy for Dropping A Class
  • February 1, 2027 and Beyond: No schedule changes will be permitted after this time (this includes Off Campus Waivers).

Graduation Status in ParentVUE/StudentVUE

A new Graduation Status section is now available in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. The Graduation Status is a tool that helps parents and students monitor and track their progress in meeting graduation requirements. This feature includes progress towards the Standard or Advanced Studies diploma for high school students and middle school students who have enrolled in one or more high school courses. This new graduation status section is available in addition to the course history and unofficial transcript options in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. To view the graduation status section, please take the following steps:

  1. Login to your SIS ParentVUE Account
  2. Go to “Course History” for your middle or high school student
  3. Go to “Graduation Status” and toggle “on” 

Class of 2026: Official Transcript Request Form

All seniors must have the Consent to Share Transcript to Colleges on file in order for the school to send the official transcript to 2-year/4-year colleges, military academies, military branches, scholarship organizations, and others. If this consent is not on file, we will not be able to release the official transcript to these organizations.

Part One: Please return completed forms to Ms. Bond in Student Services. If you've already signed the form, no need to sign again. 

Part Two: Students must submit an Official Transcript Request for EACH college/university and indicate whether we need to upload the transcript to a college portal, Common Application, Coalition Application, or email/mail directly to the College Admissions Office.

FABSE 2026 Scholarship

The Fairfax Alliance of Black School Educators (FABSE) is devoted to furthering the academic success of children particularly children of African descent. The purpose of this organization is to create and provide a network of communication for educators, particularly Black educators in Fairfax County, to enhance the skills and capabilities of educators for improving the quality of education for all children and students, particularly Black children and student to prove a forum for disseminating information on trends and issues concerning the education of Black children and to facilitate the resolution of commonly perceived problems.

The FABSE Scholarship Program is open to eligible graduating seniors planning to attend college, university and/or a technical or trade program. The application is due April 20. The scholarships are not based on financial need but on academic excellence. Scholarships will be awarded to successful candidates who have met all requirements and will be awarded during our Awards Ceremony in June.

Incomplete applications packets will not be reviewed. An application that does not comply with all procedures and requirements will be declined.

Submission of a completed packet does not guarantee a scholarship. Scholarship checks will be written directly to the College/University.  It is the responsibility of the applicant to notify the Scholarship Committee of any changes in your College/ University status and the correct College/ University Student ID # and Financial Aid Office.

Educate Fairfax Student Bookmark Art Contest – “Today’s Reader, Tomorrow’s Leader”

Educate Fairfax, the 501(c)3 education foundation that partners with the community to support Fairfax County Public Schools students and educators, is launching a divisionwide Student Bookmark Art Contest during March. FCPS students in grades K–12 are invited to design a 2” x 7” bookmark celebrating the power of learning and creativity under the theme “Today’s Reader, Tomorrow’s Leader.”

Artwork must be original, flat (no glitter or pop-ups), and include the student’s name, grade, and school on the back. Entries will be judged on creativity, connection to the theme, and overall effort. Four winners (K–2, 3–6, middle, and high) will each receive a $25 gift card, and winning designs will be printed and shared in schools and the community. This initiative supports FCPS Goal 3 by promoting literacy and student engagement.

Submissions may be mailed to Educate Fairfax (8270 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031), emailed to info@educatefairfax.org, or sent via pony mail. By submitting, students confirm FCPS enrollment and grant permission for printing and promotion (first name and grade only; parent/guardian signature required for winners).

Class of 2027: Junior College Night for Parents/Students

We are excited to announce that our Junior Parent Night is coming later this month on Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Justice High School Little Theatre! This event will include important information for students and families about post-secondary options for life after high school, and includes the following:

  • An informational session from members of our Student Services department on need-to-know timelines and tasks for senior year
  • Breakout sessions including George Washington University as well as George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College

This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about how to support your student as they start to plan for life after high school! We hope to see you here at Justice on April 23rd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Little Theatre!

Military Family Field Day

FCPS is excited to celebrate the Month of the Military Child with a good, old-fashioned field day! We invite all military-connected families with FCPS students to a special field day to honor our military-connected children.

Join us for an afternoon of fun and community at Annandale High School (4700 Medford Dr, Annandale, VA 22003) on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Enjoy field day games and crafts at the football and track stadium. Food and beverages will be available for purchase to support various FCPS school clubs and organizations. This is a great opportunity to connect with other military families across the division!

FCPS Summer Internship Program Launch 

FCPS is excited to launch Year 2 of the Summer Internship Program, a six-week, paid, in-person opportunity for a limited number of current FCPS high school students and FCPS alumni enrolled in post-secondary education. The 2026 program will run Monday, July 6 through Friday, August 14, 2026.

The program will continue to provide meaningful work-based learning experiences aligned to the Closing the Achievement Gap (CAG) Framework and FCPS’ Strategic Plan Goal 5: Leading for Tomorrow’s Innovation. To see the program in action and hear directly from student participants, please view the 2025 Summer Internship video summary and view the Intern Instagram account @FCPSInterns.

The program will offer hands-on, project-based learning across FCPS central office locations including:

  • Gatehouse Administration Center
  • Willow Oaks Administrative Center, and
  • Other worksites as appropriate

Interns will support department staff on mission-critical projects that prepare the division for the upcoming school year while participating in weekly professional development workshops focused on personal finance, communication, resume writing, and networking. Building on feedback from the pilot year, the 2026 program includes several enhancements to strengthen the intern experience.

Falls Church Academy: Health Sciences Exploration Camp

Falls Church High School Academy is hosting a Health Sciences Experience Camp from June 22-26, 2026 for Rising 6th-9th Grade Students only.

Dive into the world of health sciences with hands-on experiences that inspire creativity and foster skills. Students will engage in dynamic activities and learn from professionals in the field, preparing them for future careers.

Virginia Department of Forestry Student Opportunity

Camp Woods & Wildlife is being offered through the Virginia Department of Forestry. It will be held June 15-19, 2026 at Holiday Lake 4-H Center near Appomattox. This hands-on, career-focused overnight camp is open to any Virginia student aged 13-16 who has not attended before. The curriculum covers many aspects of forest and wildlife ecology and management. Classes are taught in the field by natural resource professionals.

Camp Woods and Wildlife is ideal for students who:

  • Wish to explore forestry and wildlife related careers,
  • Participate in forestry and wildlife judging teams, Envirothon competitions, or ecology clubs, and
  • Want to experience hands-on learning and gain real-world skills in natural resources conservation

Student Bus Passes Offer Free Transportation All Year

All Fairfax County middle and high school students can get a Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card to ride the Fairfax Connector and Fairfax CUE buses for free! With the pass, fares are free from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, all year. Learn more about the Student Pass. Complete the application and return it to Ms. Bond in Student Services (or pick up a paper application)

Our students can ride Metrobus for free, in addition to the Fairfax Connector and City of Fairfax CUE. Visit the Fairfax County website for details and approved Metrobus routes. Complete the application and return it to our front office. 

If students ride on an unauthorized route, MetroBus will deactivate the card immediately. Students can receive up to two replacement cards.


Food for Neighbors - Red Bag Program

Justice High School is a proud partner with Food for Neighbors, a local organization who helps to feed our students outside of school hours.

The Red Bag Program is filled five times a year and provided to needy families. Food for Neighbors will drop off an empty Red Bag with a list of items. You can support by purchasing some food items that is provided on the list. Leave the Red Bag outside your door and Food for Neighbors will come pick it up.

Parenting Project Workshop for Spanish Families

Empowering Parents. Transforming Teens. A Free 10-week parent workshop offered in Spanish. Receive strategies and support on:

  • How to build a positive relationship with your child.
  • Ways to prevent or intervene in alcohol and drug use, disruptive behavior at home and gang affiliation.
  • Ways to explore concrete solutions for active supervision.

Virtual Parent Cafe: The Power of Play in Parenting

Fairfax County Department of Family Services and the Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) is offering for their next Virtual Parent Cafe: "The Power of Play in Parenting".

Play is the language of children and as parents we can increase our connection with children by joining them in it. Children of all ages experience greater confidence, fewer behavioral issues, and improved mental health when caregivers use the power of play in their daily interactions with them.

Learn about the importance of play and how to incorporate it in your interactions with your children.


Dad's Parenting Groups

The Fairfax County Department of Family Services will be offering their Dad's Parenting Groups starting in February 2026 or March 2026 or May 2026.

Fathers, like mothers, play a significant role in their children’s psychological and emotional development. Positive father involvement contributes directly to children’s well-being, safety and stability. Dads Parenting Groups use the 24/7 Dad™ curriculum to focus on helping fathers to improve self-awareness, self-care, parenting skills and relationship skills. There are about 13 sessions.

Fairfax Kinship Support Groups

Formed Families Forward is offering the free Fairfax Kinship Support Groups in partnership with the Department of Family Services. 

Are you raising a child for a family member or friend? Join other kinship caregivers to discuss your experiences, concerns, and frustrations with your peers. This group offers a network to share resources and information among the group members, reducing feelings of isolation, and celebrating family successes in maintaining permanency for and the ongoing commitment to building strong families.

In-person groups will be held at Fairfax County Community Centers with the support of Neighborhood and Community Services on the third Thursday of each month. Virtual Groups will be offered on the first Thursday of each month via Zoom. Register online.


Parent Support Line

Fairfax County Department of Family Services offers The Parent Support Line (PSL) for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-18 years old. Talk with trained parenting specialists for guidance on a wide range of topics including the stages of child development (0-18 years), reducing parental stress, strengthening the parent-child bond, and accessing community resources.

The PSL is a trusted resource for parents and caregivers across different social, financial, and educational backgrounds, and parenting styles. Anyone who works with children is also welcome to call with questions or concerns. Language support is available.

Parental Digital Consent (PDC)

Paperless Opt-Outs Available! Families can log in to the PDC using their ParentVUE credentials to complete consent forms assigned to their child. There are required forms that require all parents to complete as well as optional forms pending grade level.

Forms available in the PDC starting in the 2025-2026 school year include:

  • Required:
    • Digital Resource Consent (Required for students to schedule - must be provided each school year)
    • Early College Scholars Agreement (Required for Class of 2026)
    • Parental Permission to provide students State Assessment Retake Opportunities

Weekly Progress Reports

FCPS sends automatic weekly progress reports for each class for Middle and High School students but only if you have opted-in to receive them in ParentVUE.

Here are directions on how OPT-IN to Weekly Progress Report.

  1. Parent/Guardian must have a ParentVUE account
  2. Log into your ParentVUE and click on "My Account"
  3. Confirm that you have an email address listed under "Primary Email Address"
  4. Continue scrolling on that page to find "Notify me with my child's gradebook scores"
  5. YOU MUST CHECK THE BOX NEXT TO "Grade Book"
  6. Choose which day you want to receive all the progress reports

No-Cost Virtual Therapy for High School Students

Virtual therapy sessions are available to FCPS high school students at no cost to provide a safe space to address concerns such as: 

  • Mood/behavior changes, motivation, grief/loss
  • Anxiety, worry, fears
  • Social skills, bullying, peer and family relationships
  • Academic stress

You may refer your child by calling 571-749-2940 or by contacting our school counselor, social worker, psychologist, or director of Student Services. Visit the FCPS Teletherapy webpage for more information.


Supporting Your Child's Mental Health

Children go through a lot of changes, and it can be hard to tell if their behavior is developmentally appropriate or if they could benefit from mental health support. It’s important to talk to your child and pay attention to their actions, especially these warning signs:

  • Increased irritability, hyperactivity, energy, and/or aggressive behavior.
  • Excessive sadness, hopelessness, or worries.
  • Loss of appetite, or significant weight gain or loss.
  • Lack of sleep or too much sleep.
  • A decline in grades, school avoidance, or attendance concerns.
  • Alcohol or drug use.
  • Withdrawal from activities and/or friends and family. 
  • Thoughts of harming themselves or others.

If you notice any of these warning signs or feel your child may be experiencing a mental health challenge, help is available. Please contact your child's school counselor to discuss your concerns and identify resources. Find additional ways to support your child’s wellness

If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis such as thoughts of harming themselves or others, please take action right away. Call 988, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health Emergency Services at 703-573-5679.

  1. Go to the Parent Support Request ticket
  2. Select SIS Parent in the Application dropdown menu
  3. Under "Issue Description", type the issue/error that you're receiving. Please try to be specific.
  4. Still need support?
