Hybla Happenings: April 17, 2026 Edition

Admin Team

A Message from Administration

Dear Hybla Families,

Spring is officially here, and with it comes a season of both reflection and forward-thinking. Our administrative team has been hard at work ensuring that the future of our school remains bright.

As you can see in the photo above, our team recently attended the FCPS Job Fair. This marks the third job fair we have participated in this hiring season. Our mission is clear: we are dedicated to acquiring the absolute best teaching candidates for the upcoming 26-27 school year to ensure our students continue to receive a world-class education.

Back on campus, we celebrated the hard work our students have put in so far at our schoolwide learning celebration on Thursday, April 16. We recognized our 3rd grading quarter student academic achievements and presented attendance awards. It is a wonderful time to honor the dedication of our young learners.

As we enter the final eight weeks of the school year, it is time for our 3rd through 6th graders to show what they know. Standards of Learning (SOL) testing will begin soon. Please ensure your students are getting a good night’s sleep before these important dates.

SOL Testing Schedule:

  • Tuesday, April 28: 3rd Grade Reading SOL

  • Thursday, April 30: 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Reading SOL

  • Thursday, May 7: 5th Grade Science SOL

  • Wednesday, May 13: 3rd Grade Math SOL

  • Tuesday, May 19: 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Math SOL

Now is the time to focus as we finish out the last 8 weeks of the school year. It is crucial that your student is in attendance at school every day.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education!

Warmly,

The Hybla Administration Team

Staff photo

Teachers and staff aren't just educators—they're the mentors, coaches, cheerleaders, and guideposts that help our young Huskies flourish. Their patience, dedication, and passion are the cornerstone of the Hybla Valley Elementary community.

This year, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8, and we're planning a week-long celebration to show our incredible staff just how much they mean to us. We are so incredibly grateful and thankful for all that our teachers and staff do to help our learners learn, grow, and thrive every single day.

Join us in celebrating our magnificent staff and letting them know that they are seen, heard, and deeply valued.

PreK Last Day Image

Additional Student Attendance Days for PreK and ECCB Programs

Due to school closures resulting from this year's winter storm, additional school days will be added for students in PreK and ECCB programs to ensure grant compliance instructional hours are met.

The addition of these instructional days for students remains within the teacher and instructional assistant contract days.

Additional PreK and ECCB student attendance days

  •  PreK, ECCB AM and PM students: Last day of school will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026

Two home visits and two conferences are still required for each student with this modified schedule. To support fulfilling the home visit requirement, PreK teachers will be provided one substitute day to use before the end of the school year. AM and PM ECCB teachers may use the portion of their day when not serving students to complete home visits.

Families may request flexible options to accommodate their schedules and preferences, including:

  • Virtual home visits
  • In-person visits at the school
  • In-person visits at the family's home

Teachers are encouraged to work with families to determine which option best suits their circumstances while ensuring home visit requirements are completed by June 18th.

Required Immunizations for Rising 7th Graders

6th to 7th

As required by the Code of VA, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend at a Virginia public school.

In addition, all students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations

  • Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older;
  • Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older;
  • A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
  • After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents or guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with your child’s healthcare provider now to avoid the rush this summer. Immunization appointments are available. Inspire Health Alliance will be providing immunizations for currently enrolled FCPS students at no out-of-pocket cost. Visit the Inspire Immunization Events Student Registration webpage to schedule an appointment.

Please review the Virginia Department of Health Information Packet (PDF) for more information on rising 7th grade immunization requirements.

Additional Immunization Resources are also available.

  • Tétanos, refuerzo contra la Difteria y la tos Ferina (Tdap, por sus siglas en inglés) recibida a los 7 años o mayor;
  • Vacuna contra el meningococo (MenACWY, por sus siglas en inglés) recibida a los 10 años o mayor;
