Flint Hill Updates

Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,

This week at Flint Hill there were lots of learning opportunities to celebrate. In 6th grade, students in Mrs. Pacitti's class were discussing phonics and spelling before annotating a reading passage. In 5th grade, Ms. Grzankowski's students were seeking common denominators while adding and subtracting mixed numbers. In FLES, 4th grade students are busy making connections with our Global Classroom Partner school with Sra. Diaz. Last week, students in PE shared their dance routines with Ms. Garner and Ms. Anderson. Be sure to ask your students what work they are proud of this year!

Mark your calendars for Kindergarten orientation! This year, the orientation will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 1:45 pm. If you or a neighbor have new students who will attend FHES next year, please begin the registration process soon so that we can be prepared for instructional staffing.

About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. They are currently reviewing the county’s 2027 Fiscal Year Advertised Budget and are considering possible adjustments before the final county budget is adopted in May. Provide the county with feedback on how you would like your tax dollars spent by completing this survey.

Our school Read-A-Thon begins on Monday March 2, 2026 and is sure to be a fun and exciting event.

We understand that your time is valuable. We also know that providing the best education for your child is important. That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.

Watch a short video to see how to sign up your reader.

This account will serve as a hub for recording and monitoring your child's progress as a Reader in the event, and for you to share their Read-A-Thon message with friends and family.

Use this link to activate your student's Reader account.

Thank you so much for your participation and support. Together, we can make this Read-A-Thon an amazing experience for our young readers! Last year the Read-A-Thon raised over $11,000 for our school!

Our kindergarten open house is being held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 1:45 pm to give parents of students entering school in August an opportunity to learn more about kindergarten at our school.

We recognize that parents are their children’s first teachers. Resources on the School Readiness and Transition to Kindergarten webpage provide parents with ways to support their children to help ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.

There’s also an easy-to-follow five-step process outlined for registering your child for kindergarten. Register your child today! Contact our registrar, Mrs. Eason, at SAEason@fcps.edu or 703-242-6100 with any questions.

Yearbook Snap!

Yearbook Snap

For the last couple of years, we have asked the community to upload photos to add to our Yearbook. We received LOTS of submissions! While we can’t use every photo in the yearbook, we would love to offer the opportunity for our families to submit photos again.  Our yearbook theme this year is “Our Shared Home”.

Please upload images to our Yearbook Snap. Access Code: flinthill25 In order to collect photos, we ask that they are either camera images or cell phone photos without the Live feature attached. If you upload photos and the ending is .HEIC instead of .JPG we are unable to use them in the yearbook.  We look forward to seeing everyone’s photo in the yearbook this year.

Remember to Pre-Order your Yearbook! You wouldn’t want to miss out.
