Announcements and Reminders

As a reminder this week is a short week for students, Thursday, March 19, is an evening only observance day for Eid al-Fitr, which begins at sundown. Friday, March 20, is Eid and Nowruz. therefore schools and offices will be closed.

Friday, March 27, is the last day of the third quarter and early release for students. See the academy schedule below to ensure you are prepared.

  • AM Block - Follow Regular Academy Bell Schedule. Shuttles run from base schools. Cosmetology students from feeder schools do not attend class at Edison Academy. There will be no Residential Construction shuttles for the day.
  • Mid-day Block - Follow Regular Academy Bell Schedule. Shuttles run from base schools.
  • PM Block - Class is cancelled, No shuttles will run. 

Monday, March 30 to April 3 schools and school offices will be closed for spring break.

Post-Secondary School and Enrichment Programs

  • NOVA Bridge Program Event dates: Summer 2026; Deadline: March 22

    For current high school junior or senior who may be interested in
    Engineering Technology (ET), Data Center Operations (DCO), Information Technology (IT), and Computer Science (CS).

Scholarships

The Foundation for Applied Technical Education (FATE) has announced its 2026 scholarship opportunities for high school seniors enrolled in Skilled Trade or Entrepreneurship programs in Fairfax County Public Schools.

Whether you are heading into an apprenticeship, need help purchasing professional tools, or are pursuing further academic studies in the field of Automotive, Carpentry, Residential Construction, Electrical Construction and Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and HVAC-R, there is a path available for you. Detailed information and applications can be found here. The deadline to apply is March 29, 2026.

  • Apprenticeship Scholarships: Awards up to $2,500.
  • Academic Scholarships: Awards up to $2,500.
  • Tool Scholarships: Awards up to $1,000.

Around the Academy

SkillsUSA Results

Edison Academy is proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of 27 students who competed at the SkillsUSA Virginia State Leadership and Skills Conference in Virginia Beach from March 9-11, 2026. Demonstrating classroom learning, 14 students brought home medals, including two gold-medal finishes that secured spots at the upcoming national conference.

Beyond the hardware, sponsors awarded our students significant prizes, including thousands of dollars in scholarships to Lincoln Tech and the University of Northwestern Ohio, as well as professional tool kits and gift cards. 

Based on the results from the 2026 SkillsUSA Virginia State Leadership and Skills Conference, here are the Edison Academy student winners:

Work-based Learning Experiences

Our cyber students participated in three different activities that expanded their understanding of careers in technology. They visited Corner Pocket arcade and participated in Cyber Slam, both at George Mason University. They also attended Career Day at Northern Virginia Community College to learn more about their post-secondary options for continuing in Cyber and IT.
