🐾Woodlawn Pause with Ms. Hill
Hello Woodlawn Families!
Enjoy this week’s Woodlawn Pause called YAWN BREATH.
Yawning is usually something we do as a reflex when we are tired, bored or stressed out. Did you know that yawning is very important for our bodies?
The deep inhalation of air and stretching of the jaw increases our blood flow and oxygen intake, which helps to regulate our brain’s temperature. It is a mechanism to wake the body up, boosting alertness and sending signals to the vagus nerves for relaxation, all at the same time.
Yawn breath only takes a couple of seconds and is easy to do. It is something we all do as humans, so it is familiar and something we do each day. The next time you are stressed out, nervous or anxious, try forcing several yawn breaths and see if it helps to settle your energy.
