Thursday, March 19, is an evening only observance day for Eid al-Fitr, which begins at sundown.
Friday, March 20, is a holiday and all schools and offices are closed for Eid and Nowruz.
Friday, March 27, is the last day of the third quarter and early release for students. See the academy schedule below to ensure you are prepared.
- AM Block - Follow Regular Academy Bell Schedule. Shuttles run from base schools. Cosmetology students from feeder schools do not attend class. There will be no Residential Construction shuttles for the day.
- Mid-day Block - Follow Regular Academy Bell Schedule. Shuttles run from base schools.
- PM Block - Class is cancelled, No shuttles will run.
Monday, March 30 to April 3 schools and school offices will be closed for spring break.

Bistro is Taking Orders
Bistro 1093 is your Edison Academy dining destination. Carry-Out and Dine-In menus are advertised to customers on our mailing list. Email our instructor Chef Glenn Walden to receive Bistro news of menu offerings and links to place your order. For more information, click here.
Dog Grooming
The Edison Academy Veterinary Science program offers grooming services for dogs on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Services may include dog bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning and minor trimming (around the feet, face, rear end, sanitary trims). The cost ranges between $10-25, depending on the size of your pet and the services you request. For more information, click here.
Register Today With Volunteer FCPS
Volunteer FCPS allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities. It helps ensure a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment here at Edison Academy. All volunteers must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk.

Academy Inclement Weather Schedules
Late Opening 2 Hour Delay - Announced by 5:00 a.m.
Two Hour Early Closing - Announced by 10:00 a.m.
- Edison HS students follow the Edison High School Schedule
- Other (Feeder Schools) students

Academy Resources
Lanyards
All students who attend Edison Academy, that are not Edison High School students, received an Edison Academy lanyard. It is expected that all feeder Academy students wear their lanyards with Academy ID when entering the building to speed along the entry process with the new weapons detection. If your student needs a replacement Academy ID there is a $5.00 fee and it can be paid through MySchoolBucks.
Recognize Edison Academy Employees
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. Culinary Arts Students Skills on Display
Our Culinary Arts students had a blast at the Virginia ProStart Invitational in Williamsburg last week. Huge congratulations to Kat Beatty (West Potomac) for placing FIRST in the Cake Decorating Competition! Big thanks to Chef Walden and Ms. Deedy for their support on the trip. Students in Electrical Construction and HVAC programs wrapped up their regional events for a chance to compete at the upcoming state conference.

Students from both Electrical Construction and HVAC competed against each other for the top spot to advance in the Job Skills Demo (Class A) event.
