Dear Hybla Valley Families,
With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, we want to take a moment to share how much we love and appreciate our incredible students, staff, and families. Our school is truly a community built on kindness, care, and support for one another.
We are so proud of our students for the way they bounced back to learning after the January snowstorm, which brought a week of school closures followed by a week of two-hour delays. Their resilience, positive attitudes, and readiness to learn have been inspiring. We are also extremely proud of our students for their strong effort during these first weeks of WIDA testing — they are showing perseverance and determination every day.
The second semester is off to a wonderful start as we continue pushing through the third quarter, which ends March 27. Today, February 13, also marks the 100th day of school, a fun milestone that reminds us just how much learning and growth has already taken place this year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for the love and kindness you show our school community each day. We are grateful for you and wish all of our Hybla Valley families a warm and happy Valentine’s Day.
With appreciation, Mrs. Sain, Ms. LoMonaco, and Mr. Krajack 💖
Ramadan begins at sundown, Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Ramadan is considered one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims. In Ramadan, Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Qur’an, and fast from food and drink during the sunlit hours as a means of drawing closer to God and cultivating self-control, gratitude, and compassion for those less fortunate. Ramadan is a month of intense spiritual rejuvenation with a heightened focus on devotion, during which Muslims spend extra time reading the Qur’an and performing special prayers. Those unable to fast, such as pregnant or nursing women, the sick, or elderly people & children, are exempt from fasting.
FCPS Regulation 1502 outlines the expectations for meditation and silent reflection space accommodations. Both staff and students at Hybla Valley Elementary School are welcome to use a designated space for silent reflection and prayer/meditation. At Hybla Valley, this space will be the Broadcast Room on the left side of the library. It will be available daily, starting 9:30 AM.
FCPS is offering take-home meal kits for students who are fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, February 18–March 19. To receive meals: 1) Parents must complete a form each week for each student. 2) Forms are due the Monday prior to the week needed. 3) Meal kits are picked up by the student at the end of the school day.

Our Lost & Found is overflowing with jackets, hoodies, lunch boxes, and more! We invite families to stop by and claim any missing items by Friday, February 20. After that date, all unclaimed items will be donated. Thank you for helping us reunite these belongings with their owners! 👕🧥
We loved seeing all the photos sent for our "Celebrations" theme last month. It is wonderful to have a part of students' home lives and cultures displayed at school to remind them of their support systems. Our next theme will be "Reading Rocks."
Next month is Read Across America week, and we would like to celebrate by asking you to share a photo of your child and a loved one reading together. Literacy is so important and seeing our Husky families reading together would be encouraging for our students in their reading journeys as they work hard to become the best readers they can be. Please email or send a Talking Points message to your child's teacher with your photo.
Thank you for your participation!
What time is your student going home? 1:05 PM or 4:05 PM. Please let us know before February 18th so we can plan accordingly.
If you need to change what time your child is leaving on February 25th, please call the Main Office at 703-718-7000 or send a Talking Point to your child's teacher.
