Dear Fairview Families,
We were thrilled to welcome our students back to school this week—even with the two-hour delays! Seeing our Falcons return brought so much energy and joy to the building. A huge thank-you goes to our incredible custodial team, who worked tirelessly to ensure the building was safe and ready for students and staff. They are continuing to clear the blacktop areas, and we are hopeful that with their hard work and some cooperative weather, students will be able to enjoy outdoor recess again next week.
We are also so grateful to our fabulous PTA for showing appreciation to our custodians by providing pizza and snacks. This thoughtful gesture meant a great deal and truly reflects the strong sense of community we value at Fairview.
This week, we also celebrate National School Counseling Week. We are incredibly thankful for our school counselors, Mrs. Fructuoso and Mrs. Corderman, and the care, guidance, and support they provide to our students every day. They play an essential role in helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, and we are grateful for all they do to support our school community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Have a great weekend, we look forward to a great week ahead!
Warmly,
Samantha Goldstein
Principal

National School Counseling Week: February 2-6, 2026
A huge thank you to Ms. Fructuoso and Ms. Corderman for their unwavering dedication to our students. School counselors are the heart of a school, and these two go above and beyond to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and supported.
Whether they are helping navigate academic challenges, providing a safe space for big emotions, or cheering students on toward their future goals, their impact is immeasurable.
We are so lucky to have this powerhouse duo in our corner. If you see them in the halls this week, be sure to give them a high-five or a quick "thank you" for everything they do!
Wear Red Challenge at Fairview-FCPS Employee Wellness
Fairview staff were excited to participate in the FCPS wellness challenge today! A healthy heart helps all of us educators at Fairview do what we do best: teach, inspire, and love our students!
Upcoming Student Experience Survey at Fairview
Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 3-6, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day on February 26, 2026. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You received a communication with details on how to preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose. The electronic opt-out form can also be accessed at this link. The last day for parents to opt-out of the survey is Friday, February 13, 2026.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.

Please let us know if you have a rising Kindergarten student – a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 30, 2026. A Survey of Preschool Children (green form) was sent home in Wednesday Folders on 1/21/26 to collect this information. Please complete it if it applies to you and return it to the office or your child’s teacher. If you have a neighbor or friend for whom this applies within our Fairview boundaries, please share this information with them or ask them to call Fairview at 703-503-3700.
Registration forms and information about Kindergarten Orientation will be provided to those who complete the survey or contact the school.

Warm Up FCPS – Divisionwide Spirit Day
Tired of all the cold weather? Let’s warm up with a little school spirit across the division!
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid is encouraging all FCPS students, teachers, and staff to shake the wrinkles out of their brightest outfits and tropical wear to help brighten everyone’s moods on Thursday, February 19.
Meal Kits for Fasting Students
From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:
-
Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.
-
Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
-
Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.
Visit the Food and Nutrition webpage for forms, deadlines, and other information. Please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services with any questions at FCPSFNS@fcps.edu or 703-813-4800.
Help Keep Fairview Phone-Free!
Please remind your student that cell phones and personal devices (AirPods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell). Cell phones are also not permitted to be used as an instructional tool.
FCPS’ cell phone policy helps students stay focused, safe, and engaged at school. Visit FCPS’ cell phone policy webpage for more information and answers to frequently asked questions, including consequences for cell phone policy violations and exceptions for students with medical conditions or IEP/504 plans.
If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call our front office at 703-503-3700.
Learn About Kindergarten at Fairview
Our kindergarten orientation is being held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. to give parents of students entering school in August an opportunity to learn more about kindergarten at our school.

There’s also an easy-to-follow five-step process outlined for registering your child for kindergarten. Register your child today! Contact our registrar, Sarah Fuller, at SLFuller@fcps.edu, or call the front office at 703-503-3700 with any questions.
