Chantilly A/B Day Calendar

A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Chantilly Community,

WE have had a wonderful first week of 2026 at Chantilly. WE welcomed our rising 9th graders and their families to Chantilly earlier this week and began visiting our middle school feeder schools to help support the transition of the class of 2030 to Chantilly HS. It was wonderful to see so many of our Charger families and students sharing course selection opportunities and their experiences as Chantilly students with our newest community members.  Please visit our Academic Advising Site for resources. WE look forward to engaging with families at each grade level in upcoming advising virtual meetings. Read more below.

Attendance Matters

WE know that one of the most important factors in students' long term success is being present in school! As we launch into 2026, or goal remains for each student to be present at Chantilly every day. Over the coming week, families will be receiving an Attendance Report Card for their student(s). You can learn more by reading the Attendance section below.

Congratulations!

On January 7, 300 U.S. high school seniors were named scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS), the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math research competition for high school seniors. Each top 300 scholar receives a $2,000 award from Regeneron with an additional $2,000 going to their school. The competition overall awards $3.1 million to provide the opportunities and resources that students need to become the next generation of inventors, entrepreneurs and STEM leaders.

Please congratulate Sam Tummala, Chantilly HS senior, who was named in the Top 300:

Project Title: From Waste to Worth: Transforming Resistant Starches From Waste Rice Into a Single-Use Plastic Alternative and Controlled-Release Organic Fertilizer

The top 40 Finalists will be announced on January 21, 2026 at 12:00 pm Eastern time and will each receive $25,000 and the chance to compete for the $250,000 first place prize in a week-long competition in March.

Share the Love with our Chantilly Staff - PTSA WishList:

Help the PTSA keep our teachers and staff fueled and appreciated all year long.  Please use this wish list link if you would like to buy snacks or a gift card or drop off items in the front office.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.

Sincerely,

Amy T. Goodloe, Ed.D.

Attendance - New Year, Same Goal: Be PRESENT!

Welcome back, Chargers! As we gear up for the second half of the school year, we want to highlight the vital role regular attendance plays in student success. Our community thrives when young minds are present, nurtured, and engaged; every day in the classroom is a building block for your student’s development.

Many families may not realize that any day missed for any reason (whether excused or unexcused) counts toward a student’s chronic absenteeism rate. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year. To put this into perspective, this equates to only 4-5 days per quarter!

To keep you informed, every family will soon receive an Attendance Report Card. This summary will include total days enrolled, total absences (excused and unexcused), and the overall absence percentage for the year so far.  Please know that these updates are intended as another communication tool, not a judgment on the validity of your family's specific circumstances.

We urge parents and guardians to collaborate with our school support teams to encourage consistent attendance. Together, we can ensure every student receives the high-quality education they deserve.

Thank you for your continued support!

Graduation Status: New Feature in ParentVUE and StudentVUE

A new Graduation Status tool is available in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. The tool helps parents and students monitor and track progress in meeting graduation requirements.

Graduation Status includes progress toward the Standard or Advanced Studies diploma for high school students and middle school students who have enrolled in one or more high school courses. This new feature is available in addition to the course history and unofficial transcript options in ParentVUE and StudentVUE.

Take the following steps to view the Graduation Status section:

  1. Log in to your SIS ParentVUE/StudentVUE account.
  2. Go to Course History.
  3. Go to Graduation Status and toggle “on.”

For questions about graduation requirements, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Checking out early?

The best and most efficient way to check your student out of school early is to send a note with them to take to their Subschool Office in the morning! Or call your child's subschool before 9 a.m. to request early dismissal. You can find the phone numbers at the bottom of this email and on the Chantilly Attendance page.

  • Your student will receive a pass to leave class at the time you specify.
  • You won't need to come inside the school; your student will simply come out to meet you.

Please be aware that if you sign your student out in person, it can take up to 30 minutes for the pass to reach them, making sending a note the quickest option!

Important Reminders:

  • Email is not accepted for reporting absences or early checkouts.
  • If a student becomes sick during the school day, they must be checked out through the clinic, not the Subschool Office, or by text with the student..

School Photos are now online!

Families should have received an E-proof via email.

Please remember to check your junk folder!.

For any questions about your student's school pictures please contact: underclass@vosphoto.com

The team at Victor O’Neill Studios would like to thank Chantilly High School for a great picture day!

Volunteer FCPS

Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools

The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.

Volunteer FCPS is how FCPS provides a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS must:

  • Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
  • Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
  • Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.

Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels

Due to the overwhelming response, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.

Field trip chaperone opportunities will now be classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).

To ensure continuous safety, all new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).

Visit the Volunteer FCPS website to complete a volunteer orientation. View Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
