Heavy Hearts

To the Navy Elementary School and Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of John Cofer, the beloved husband of our former Assistant Principal, Faye Cofer. After a courageous and long-fought battle for his life, John passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

During her time at Navy, Mrs. Cofer was a pillar of strength, kindness, and dedication. Even as she supported our students, teachers, and families, many of you stood by her, offering prayers, meals, and encouragement as her family navigated John’s health journey.

Faye has asked that we share a personal message of gratitude with you all:

"I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have served the Navy Community. My family and I are deeply thankful for the unwavering support, love, and kindness you have provided us over the years. It has meant more than words can express.

The bond between the Cofer family and the Navy community has always been a special one. As Faye and her family enter this period of grief, we remember John’s resilience and the grace with which Faye led our school while caring for those she loved most.

While the family is taking this time to be together, please keep them in your thoughts and hearts.

  • Cards and Messages: If you would like to share a memory or a note of sympathy, please send them to Navy Elementary, and we will ensure they reach Mrs. Cofer.
  • Privacy: We kindly ask that you respect the family's privacy during this difficult time as they finalize arrangements and spend Christmas together.
  • Arrangements will be shared once finalized.

We are a community built on compassion, and we know that the Navy spirit will continue to surround the Cofers in the days ahead. If you would like to provide support to the family  you may do so via the Meal Train.

I wish you all safe and healthy New Year!

Sincerely,

Jason
