What a wonderful week it has been here at Saratoga! This week has been filled with so much cheer, from fun spirit days during our December Days of Cheer to the exciting news that Saratoga is officially on track according to the new VDOE School Accountability framework. This designation highlights the amazing work we see at Saratoga every single day, demonstrating that our students are making tangible progress as a result of the direct support of our entire community. It truly takes all of us to support and develop a child, from the academic lessons that occur within the classroom, to the familiar face welcoming students into the building, to a clean learning environment, to the essential engagement of families and community members. This significant distinction has each of our hands in it—a true testament to our collective effort. Congratulations, Saratoga!

December Days Of Cheer
Get ready to sparkle and celebrate because we are thrilled to announce our December Days of Cheer are back! To help us capture the magic and excitement of the winter season and build community, we are inviting all students and staff to participate in a series of fun spirit days leading up to Winter Break! Each day in December has a special theme, giving us a playful chance to dress up and spread joy. Participation is always completely optional—everyone is welcome to join in as many or as few days as they would like! Let's fill our halls with fun as the Winter Break draws near.

📚 Finishing Up Learning about Government and Citizenship In Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 3 in Language Arts is coming to a close! Over the last several weeks, our students have learned, read, and written about government and citizenship.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: Why are rules important?
- Activity: Have your child make a poster for an imaginary election — what would they promise as a leader?
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.

VDOE VQB5 Guidelines Requirement
FCPS participates in Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5). VQB5 is Virginia’s system for measuring and supporting quality in early childhood programs so children enter kindergarten ready to learn. VQB5 builds on health and safety standards by measuring the quality of teacher-child interactions and the use of curriculum. Refer to “VQB5 for Families English/Spanish” for more information.

¡Qué semana tan maravillosa hemos tenido aquí en Saratoga! Esta semana ha estado llena de alegría, desde los divertidos días temáticos durante nuestros Días de Celebración de diciembre hasta la emocionante noticia de que Saratoga está oficialmente en el buen camino, según el nuevo marco de rendición de cuentas escolares del Departamento de Educación de Virginia (VDOE). Esta distinción destaca el increíble trabajo que vemos en Saratoga todos los días, demostrando que nuestros estudiantes están logrando un progreso tangible gracias al apoyo directo de toda nuestra comunidad. Realmente se necesita la colaboración de todos para apoyar y desarrollar a un niño, desde las lecciones académicas en el aula, pasando por la cara amable que recibe a los estudiantes al entrar al edificio, un ambiente de aprendizaje limpio, hasta la participación esencial de las familias y los miembros de la comunidad. Esta importante distinción es fruto del esfuerzo de todos nosotros: un verdadero testimonio de nuestro trabajo colectivo. ¡Felicidades, Saratoga!

¡Diciembre Lleno de Alegría!
¡Prepárense para brillar y celebrar! Nos complace anunciar el regreso de nuestros Días de Alegría en diciembre. Para capturar la magia y la emoción del invierno y fortalecer nuestro espíritu escolar, invitamos a todos los estudiantes y al personal a participar en una serie de divertidos días temáticos previos a las vacaciones de invierno. Cada día de diciembre tiene una temática especial, lo que nos brinda la oportunidad de disfrazarnos y compartir alegría. La participación es totalmente opcional: todos son bienvenidos a participar tantos o tan pocos días como deseen. ¡Consulten el calendario adjunto para conocer todas las emocionantes temáticas! ¡Llenemos nuestros pasillos de diversión conforme se acercan las vacaciones de invierno!

📚 Terminando la unidad sobre Gobierno y Ciudadanía en Lengua y Literatura 📚
¡La Unidad 3 de Benchmark en Lengua y Literatura está llegando a su fin! Durante las últimas semanas, nuestros estudiantes han aprendido, leído y escrito sobre el gobierno y la ciudadanía.
Conecte con el aprendizaje de su hijo/a en la escuela con estas preguntas divertidas y actividades prácticas para hacer en casa:
Pregunta: ¿Por qué son importantes las reglas?
Actividad: Pídale a su hijo/a que haga un cartel para una elección imaginaria: ¿qué prometería como líder?
Al final de la unidad, su hijo/a llevará a casa la revista de la unidad. La revista incluye un calendario de actividades con ideas divertidas para que los estudiantes refuercen lo aprendido en cada nivel. También puede encontrar información sobre cómo apoyar la lectura de su hijo/a en casa en el sitio web de Benchmark Families.
