Dear Navy Families,
Thanks to all who were able to attend the recent open house at FCPS’ new high school in western Fairfax County.
The campus features 355,000 square feet of modern learning spaces, including science and robotics labs, fine arts facilities, and athletic areas. Once complete, it will provide state-of-the-art opportunities for students to experience 22nd century learning and prepare for careers that have yet to be imagined.
I realize many of you are eager to know if your child will have the opportunity to attend the new high school. The school’s boundaries have not yet been determined, but four maps with potential options for the new high school’s boundary were shared at the open house and are now posted online.
Here’s what else you should know:
- FCPS will hold two community meetings to talk about the maps and answer questions: Saturday, November 1 New Western High School 9:30 to 11 a.m.Register to attend: In Person | Virtual
Friday, November 14 New Western High School 6:30 to 8 p.m. Register to attend: In Person | Virtual
- Slides from the October 27 community meetings about the naming process are on the FCPS website.
- Next month, parents/caregivers, students, and staff from Navy, as well as those from other schools that serve families in western Fairfax, will be able to submit name recommendations via a survey by mid-November.
- Additional community meetings about naming the new western high school will be held in December.
Please visit the FCPS website for more information about the new western high school. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jason Pannutti
