Veterans Day

Native Heritage Icon

Native American Heritage Month

November is designated as a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native Americans. It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges they have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

National Career Development Month

By enrolling in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course or program, students learn the technical applications of many occupations while preparing for higher education or entry-level employment. A core program of CTE courses is offered in every middle and high school. Based on the needs of the populations served, each school determines optional courses to be offered. Changes to Middle and High School Report Card Feedback

With the first quarter of the school year ending on Friday, October 31, families can expect student report cards to be available the week of November 10.

FCPS has revised the way teachers provide feedback on report cards, so you may notice some new comments. Specifically, comments have been revised to provide more detailed feedback for students and families.

Also, teachers will now include a Work Habits mark each quarter for each student. This scale provides feedback on students’ time management, organization, assignment completion, and overall effort in class. This is meant as feedback to families and will not appear on a student’s transcript.

View the Middle and High School Grading and Reporting webpage for more information.

Academy Highlights

Edison Academy Haunted House

Our Edison Academy students brought the scares and the creativity to this year’s Haunted House making it frightfully fun from start to finish! From creepy corridors to spooky surprises, our Electrical Construction students made this Haunted House a scream!

Each academy program was given a space in the haunted house which they correlated to their classes, but with a creepy twist. The Electrical Construction  students worked for over a month building this experience each day in class. Additionally, they spent 20 hours entertaining nearly 4,000 visitors over the course of three days. We are grateful to everyone who supported this event and shout out to the student volunteers who made it all possible!
