Charger Students and Families,
What a great start to the school year! I want to extend a huge thank you to all our students, families, and staff for a wonderful and successful first week. It has been a true joy to have our hallways and classrooms filled with the energy and enthusiasm of our students again. I'm so impressed with how everyone has embraced new routines, from navigating classes to adjusting to the new cell phone policy. The engagement and care for our school community have been outstanding, and it's inspiring to see the connections students and teachers are already building. Together, we truly lead the charge in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where everyone can thrive. Let's keep this momentum going as we head into an amazing school year.
Please read important updates below related to cell phone/personal device expectations, weapons screening implementation, and attendance.
FCPS’ Cell Phone Policy: Why It Matters:
FCPS’ cell phone policy helps students focus, learn, and engage. When students put their phones away, they have more face-to-face interactions with their peers and teachers and more opportunities to develop resilience and problem-solving skills. Please remind your child that:
- Cell phones and personal devices (airpods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell).
- Smart watches that serve a dual purpose may be worn, but the phone features (texting, Internet viewing, and calls) are to be off when phone use is prohibited.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call our main office at 703-222-8100 or call the subschool directly, contact information below. Learn more about FCPS’ cell phone and personal device policy.
Security and Weapons Screeners Update:
We are preparing for the implementation of the new Weapons Screeners (read more below). Students have been doing a great job following new routines.
-
Tues, Aug 26: screeners will be set up but not in use
-
Weds, Thurs Aug 27-28: Students will line up to walk through screeners, screeners will not be operational
-
Tues Sept 2: screening begins
-
We anticipate long lines as students learn and get used to the process. Please encourage students to arrive at 7:45 to avoid the lines
- Students will not be marked tardy while we adjust to the new systems and routines
- We will share updates through community messages.
Thank you for your support and partnership. Together WE Lead the Charge! I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon!
Sincerely,
Amy T. Goodloe, Ed.D.

SIS ParentVUE is for YOU!
Everything You Need to Do Through SIS ParentVUE

If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.
☑️ Update Contact Information
Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in SIS ParentVUE. To update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
Parents/caregivers who do not have a ParentVUE account should contact their school for an activation code to create an account, or print and complete the Emergency Care Information Form and submit it to our front office.

☑️ Review and Submit Immunization Forms
Parents/caregivers can check their child’s immunization compliance and submit immunization records in SIS ParentVUE. Records may also be delivered to our front office.
If needed, families may also provide other immunization documentation including a health care provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption or a notarized Religious Exemption Form.
Please visit the FCPS How to Submit Immunization Documentation webpage for step-by-step instructions on how to submit each of these items.
☑️ Complete Permission Forms Today
Families can easily grant permission for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. 🔍 See Where Your Child Goes Online With Lightspeed
Parents can access their child’s activity on FCPS devices through Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service. Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites their child visited.
The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.
Learn more about Lightspeed Parent Reports.
☑️ Weapons Detection System Update:
In our latest effort to strengthen our layered safety and security programs, FCPS piloted a weapon screening system across our high schools last spring. This weapon screening system will be expanded to all middle and high schools this fall. Learn more on the weapons detection frequently asked questions page.
Please Watch this video explaining weapons screening process.
