Mustang Memo 6.11.25

6th

Congratulations to our newly promoted 6th grade students!

Note from Dr. Sheers

A Year of Community, Spirit, and the Mustang Houses!

As we wrap up an unforgettable school year, we celebrate not only the incredible achievements of our students but also the successful launch of the Mustang House System - a new tradition that has strengthened our sense of community and school spirit! Our strong culture of care and connection is what makes West Springfield so special.

This year, we embraced our Houses - Ethica, Innovara, Resilio, and Synerix—with pride and enthusiasm. From learning our House chants and handshakes to earning points for positive behavior and teamwork, we’ve built a culture of integrity, collaboration, and resilience. Through House spirit days, special events, and friendly competitions, students across all grade levels have forged lasting connections and a deeper sense of belonging.

The House system has not only fostered school spirit but also reinforced key Portrait of a Graduate skills, encouraging our students to be ethical citizens, innovative thinkers, goal-driven individuals, and strong collaborators. Every Mustang now has a team to support them, celebrate their successes, and cheer them on.

And this is just the beginning! Looking ahead, the Mustang Houses will continue to grow, bringing even more opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and school pride.

To our amazing students, staff, and families - thank you for making this year so memorable! From our school-wide field trip and STEAM Night to musical performances and Field Day, we’ve learned, grown, and had so much fun along the way.

As I complete my 10th year at West Springfield, I am incredibly grateful to be your principal and to share this journey with you. Together, we have celebrated many milestones - being named FCPS’ National Blue Ribbon Nominee, ranking among U.S. News’ Top 100 Elementary Schools in Virginia, launching our Local Level IV program, maintaining high Standards of Learning pass rates, and emerging from the challenges of COVID stronger than ever. Looking forward to next school year!

Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang!
