News from the Health Room

💊Pick Up Medication by June 11 (1:55 pm)

ALL medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school, which is 1:55PM (2 Hour Early Release) on June 11, 2025.

Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

📅 Attendance

💪 Let's Finish the School Year Strong! Student attendance at school is important all year long. Attendance has an effect on student performance and on school accreditation. See how to:

  • Check your child’s attendance record.
  • Help your student stay engaged at school.
  • Report future absences.
  • Understand the FCPS school calendar.

Learn more about attendance resources.

Report your student's absences and late arrivals to avoid getting a robo-call from FCPS.

You can report attendance in ParentVue now! You can also report your attendance by emailing SangsterElem.Attendance@fcps.edu.

Safety Reminder:

No Glass Containers in Lunches

Please DO NOT SEND glass containers in students' lunches/snacks. It's a safety hazard if dropped. Thank you!

🚪After School Procedures

Remember to be respectful of our teacher's space. If it is after 4:15 pm, you may not re-enter a classroom. If you are in the building for an after-school activity, remain in your designated area. If you or your student have forgotten an item, it will need to wait until the next school day. We appreciate you working with us to maintain our school's safety.

🧩 Get Clued in to the FCPS and Safe Routes to School Puzzle Hunt!

FCPS and Safe Routes to School return with an engaging activity to help get families outside this summer. The Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt, which begins Sunday, June 1, will offer online puzzles that lead to a location in Fairfax County and additional clues toward the final puzzle.

Participants who submit the final answer will be entered into a chance to win a prize. Puzzles are filled with creative thinking, logic, and wordplay. They are designed to be challenging and accessible for all skill levels, as well as teaching about bicycle and pedestrian safety.

Plan ahead and think creatively: Last year, some folks created solving teams and scheduled meet-ups to solve together. How will you participate? For more information, visit the hunt’s How to Play page.
