Dear Laurel Hill Families,

A huge THANK YOU to our art department, Ms. Rickards and Mr. Z., our science team, led by Mr. Cookson, our PTA and volunteers for an amazing STEAM night. The pictures above is just a snippet of the fun-filled night! We appreciate all who came out to support the event.

Student attendance at school is important all year long, up to the last day of school. Attendance has an effect on student performance and on school accreditation. See how to:

  • Check your child’s attendance record.
  • Help your student stay engaged at school.
  • Report future absences.
  • Understand the FCPS school calendar.

Please be reminded that your input for class placement is appreciated. The link to the class placement questionnaire for the 2025-2026 school year can be accessed here. Access will be given through May 30.

Spring SOL Reading, Math, and Science Testing Dates

For your planning purposes and reference, please see the remaining Spring 2025 Standards Of Learning (SOL) Testing Dates.  When possible, please avoid scheduling appointments and/or activities that would prevent your child from arriving at school on time on the days your child(ren) are participating in an SOL Assessment.

🧸 Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

There’s an easy process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility-5 years old by Sept 30, 2025.
  2. Identify your local school. 
  3. Gather documents. 
  4. Fill out forms. 
  5. Schedule an appointment (703-551-5300)

Online registration for the 2025-26 school year is open. Parents/caregivers may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process. 

When registering, parents/caregivers will need to create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account.
