Our next 3-hour early release Monday is April 21.
This is the first day back after spring break.
On April 2, you received a Talking Points message about your child's dismissal preference (1:05 PM or 4:05 PM).
If you did not receive this Talking Points message OR if you would like to change your child's dismissal time, please call the main office at 703-619-4800.
Any changes to dismissal time should be made by Wednesday, April 9.
- This will give our staff a chance to plan for the early release before the start of Spring Break.

April is the Month of the Military Child (MOMC).
On Wednesday, April 9 we honored our military-connected students in a special celebration.
It was also Purple-Up Day; staff and students wore purple to honor military kids.

The Wildcat’s Nest is a FREE thrift store for Woodlawn students and families.
It is stocked with clothes, jackets, school supplies, books, and an abundance of other personal and household items.
The Wildcat’s Nest is open to parents and guardians by appointment only, while supplies last.
The Wildcat's Nest on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

When: Friday, June 6 from 9:30 - 11:30 am.
What to bring to Field Day:
- Water bottle labeled with your child's name.
- A towel

Woodlawn Elementary is hosting a Career Day on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 9:00-12:00 pm.
If you or someone you know is interested in presenting at this awesome event, Complete the Career Day Presenter Interest Form (https://bit.ly/4bvXmeY) or Email Stacey Coleman at scoleman@fcps.edu.
We would love to introduce our students to all kinds of careers, so any career can work!
Career Presentations will be given to multiple classes in a grade level, rotating every 15 minutes.
Career Presentations may include props, videos, or pictures to make the presentation more interactive.

Capital Area Food Bank is hosting fresh food markets at Bucknell Elementary once a month until the end of the school year.
Fresh vegetables and fruits will be distributed at these markets.
The next market will be on May 21.
- The next date is June 4.
The markets open at 10:30 am and stay open until the food is gone.
Bucknell Elementary School is located at 6925 University Drive, Alexandria, VA 22307.
The markets will be at the front of the school by door 2. If it is raining, the markets will be in the back of the school by door 9.

Capital Area Food Bank is hosting family food markets at Riverside Elementary once a month until the end of the school year.
Shelf-stable food items and produce will be provided at no cost.
The next market will be on May 6.

We encourage our students to continue learning at home using some digital tools such as Lexia, ST Math (grades K-2), iXL Math (grades 3 -6), and iXL science (grade 5).
Students can access these tools on a platform called Clever.
