A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Chantilly Charger Community,

It has been a great week to be a Charger. A few highlights:

  • Plans and rehearsals are underway for Chantilly Cultural Night on February 7.  Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to see the vibrant displays, enjoy the food vendors, and share in the joy of student performances as our Chargers represent the many cultures that make up our Chantilly community.
  • Our Unified Sports Special Olympics basketball team played in their first tournament over the past weekend.  The team played two exciting games and finished 1-1 in front of a big crowd of Chantilly supporters including family and staff. Way to go Chargers!
  • Congratulations are in order! Chantilly HS  was recognized by FCPS for our outstanding web page this week at our district wide Communicators Conference. Special thanks to Emily Phelan, SBTS for our excellent work enhancing our web resources.
  • District competition is in full swing and we are entering district finals for many sports including Swim and Dive and Track and Field this week. We wish our Chargers good luck in all of their events. Our Theater department took home 2nd and advanced to the Regional levels for the VHSL One Act competition. See details below! Gymnastics and Wrestling will compete in district events next week. Check our Chantilly Athletics page for more!
  • Reminder for families: The quarter 2 grading window is currently open and there will be some interruptions to SIS access.  Student Progress Reports will be live in ParentVue and StudentVue on February 4.

PTSA and Boosters Family Volunteers Needed!

SR&R and Cell Phone Policy Survey

All FCPS families and middle and high school students have received an invitation to participate in a survey about FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R), cell phone policy, and cell phone storage options. The survey will be available through Monday, February 3. Please take a few moments to share your feedback and help FCPS make informed, inclusive decisions for all of our schools!

Academic Advising/Course Selection Timeline of Events

From January-March, students will meet individually with their counselor to review course selections and alignment with diploma type, post-secondary plans, or other priorities students may have around course selection.  In early March, parents and students will be invited to a mini conference with the student’s counselor to review selected courses and ensure course selection is correct.  Signups for the mini conferences will be available in late January.  After March 7, 2025, we will be unable to make any additional class changes as we make staffing and course offering decisions in mid-March based upon student course selections. Below is information for your review.

Course Videos, Course Catalog, and Academic Advising Site   available for student and parent review.  Also available on the Chantilly HS Webpage

March 3, 2025 - 3:30-6:30 PM & March 5 - 1:30-4:30 PM - Parent/Student Mini-Conferences to review course selections. Limited to one per student, these are optional and available by sign-up only.  Sign-ups will open in February.

March 7, 2025 - Course Selection Deadline - Students may not make any schedule changes after 3:30 PM.  Students planning to take a summer class(not recommended) must enroll and notify their counselor by March 7.  Failure to do so may result in a lack of seats in a needed course.

We look forward to working with your student during advising season and to helping support your student’s growth and academic progress.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor or to agparmentier@fcps.edu

February 3-7 is National School Counseling Week! School counselors help students thrive and examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; they work in partnership with families as they encounter challenges of raising children in today’s world; focus on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development; and work with teachers and other educators to provide an education system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience make them an integral part of the total educational program. As the number of students with mental health concerns increases, our counselors and clinical team are working in close collaboration with teachers and families to help kids return to wellness and academic engagement.

Our commitments to our students, families and faculty are:

  • Chantilly HS Student Services Department encourages every student to find their voice and explore their strengths and interests so that they are equipped to lead fulfilling, healthy, and productive lives
  • The mission of CHS Student Services Department is to prepare students to succeed as learners and as global citizens.  We work collaboratively with parents and teachers to support each student as they find their pathway through high school and beyond

Thank you to our wonderful team of School Counselors (Michelle Ranere, Danielle Savastano, JP Sousa, Megan Sullivan, Sarah Snyder, Bobby Cardozo, Shuntina Taylor, Becky Clonts, Dwayne Peyton, Alexa Scott, Stephanie Yi, Roselyn Abrigo, Sean McCoart, & Hollie Porcella), our College and Career Specialist (Maggie Rodriguez), and our clinical team (Kristina Crawford, Amy Deemer, Susan Daly, Danielle Magagnoli, Diane Ross,& Nick Thayer) for all of the work that they do here at Chantilly High School and within our community!
