A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Chantilly Charger Community,

It has been a great week to be a Charger. A few highlights:

  • Congratulations to our Chantilly Charger Speech Team (pictured above) who won their 13th consecutive Region Championship under Coach Barbara Clougherty this week.  Congratulations!!!
  • We continue to celebrate our Class of 2025 athletes this week with Senior Nights for Gymnastics (with a Big Win!) and Boys Basketball tonight at home versus Centreville HS. Come cheer on our Chargers.
  • HUGE thanks to our Science Teachers, students, and volunteer judges for an outstanding Chantilly Science Fair. We had over 200 projects judged by over 50 volunteer judges. Chick-Fil-A, Crumbl Cookies, Supreme Thai Bistro, Charcoal Chicken Restaurant, Woodlands Restaurant, and our own Chantilly PTSA donated food and supplies, which we are very grateful for. We are also so pleased that former and retired Chantilly staff members returned to serve as judges, and that we had such wonderful support from our community to nourish the curiosity of our apprentice scientists! We are excited to cheer on our Regional level qualifiers.
  • Our Chargers have been hard at work wrapping up the second quarter and semester 1 strong! The grading window is currently open and there will be some interruptions to SIS access.  Student Progress Reports will be live in ParentVue and StudentVue on February 4.

Leadership Volunteers Needed!

PTSA and Boosters (Athletics, Music, Theater) groups need YOU.  We are so grateful for the Charger volunteers who serve as board members, run our concessions, sell tickets, organize spirit gear sales, provide afterschool programs and snacks, evening workshops for families, student scholarships and much more! We are so grateful for our families and the financial and volunteer support.

Without volunteers to step up to serve as leaders and board members, we will not be able to continue to provide the services listed above and provide resources, equipment and services at current levelsPlease share your contact information and interest here so that we can continue to support our Chargers in all of their endeavors.

Chantilly Wishlist

As we CHARGE into 2025, we greatly appreciate our community support.  If you would like to consider donating to our efforts to support Chantilly staff, please see our Amazon wishlist.  Thanks for your support!

Lightspeed Parent Reports

FCPS has tools to help parents know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided at no cost to families by Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service.

Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for free access to the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.

Learn more about Lightspeed Parent Reports.

I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon!

✈️ Learn About Opportunities for the Year Following Graduation at the Gap Year Fair

FCPS School Counseling Services and Go Overseas will co-host the annual FCPS Gap Year Fair on Tuesday, January 28, 6-8:30 p.m., at Marshall High School

This event is for high school students and their families who are interested in learning about opportunities for the year following high school graduation. Students should register at USA Gap Year Fairs

SR&R and Cell Phone Policy Survey

All FCPS families and middle and high school students have received an invitation to participate in a survey about FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R), cell phone policy, and cell phone storage options. The survey will be available through Monday, February 3. Please take a few moments to share your feedback and help FCPS make informed, inclusive decisions for all of our schools!

Academic Advising/Course Selection Timeline of Events

From January-March, students will meet individually with their counselor to review course selections and alignment with diploma type, post-secondary plans, or other priorities students may have around course selection.  In early March, parents and students will be invited to a mini conference with the student’s counselor to review selected courses and ensure course selection is correct.  Signups for the mini conferences will be available in late January.  After March 7, 2025, we will be unable to make any additional class changes as we make staffing and course offering decisions in mid-March based upon student course selections. Below is information for your review.

Course Videos, Course Catalog, and Academic Advising Site   available for student and parent review.  Also available on the Chantilly HS Webpage

March 3, 2025 - 3:30-6:30 PM & March 5 - 1:30-4:30 PM - Parent/Student Mini-Conferences to review course selections. Limited to one per student, these are optional and available by sign-up only.  Sign-ups will open in February.

March 7, 2025 - Course Selection Deadline - Students may not make any schedule changes after 3:30 PM.  Students planning to take a summer class(not recommended) must enroll and notify their counselor by March 7.  Failure to do so may result in a lack of seats in a needed course.

We look forward to working with your student during advising season and to helping support your student’s growth and academic progress.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor or to agparmentier@fcps.edu
