December 20, 2024

Happy FAIRFAX Friday Family and Friends,

As the snow was sprinkling down outside today and I watched some of our classes coming out to catch a glimpse, the smiles and laughter were so very magical and fulfilling. My hope is that your winter break has many moments of peace, rest, and JOY.  We are so appreciative of our partnerships with our families and community.

This week we have had lots of Fairfax FUN. We sang in the cafeteria, we played minute to win it games, we enjoyed a pep rally, shared holiday treats, competed in gingerbread making, added some hallway pizzazz with door decorating and we also finished many major assignments. We hope each of our students is closing out this year feeling supported and comfortable with their classes, our community, and the many opportunities they have to achieve their goals.

We look forward to seeing everyone back here in the NEW YEAR. We thank you for your collaboration and support of our school.

Warmest regards,

Best Buddies Program

The best buddies program is an opportunity for students with disabilities to interact with their non-disabled peers. Our program at Fairfax matches students with a buddy and the students meet during Lion Time to share different activities. During our holiday party students watched a holiday movie and made paper snowflakes. A great time was had by all!

Teachers for Tomorrow

Teachers for Tomorrow

FHS hopes to inspire the next generation of teachers by offering the courses Teachers for Tomorrow 1, and Teachers for Tomorrow 2. The TFT 2 course offers students two internship experiences to help them learn from the experts. Addie Curry, Emmanuel Caiza Avila and Erin Despres started their Katherine Johnson Middle School internships in September and finished last week. They grew so much as educators and are excited to continue learning in January! Well done, Lions!! 🦁🍎
