Dear Charger families,
On behalf of the entire Chantilly Charger Staff, I wish you a restful Thanksgiving Break and hope that you and your loved ones enjoy time together to reCHARGE and share gratitude. We are so grateful that you trust us with your children and we thank you for your collaboration and support.
December to Remember
As we turn our thoughts to the many fun events, performances, and holidays that December holds, families often ask how they can recognize our Chantilly staff during this special time. This year we are CHARGING up the holiday spirit at school with lots of festive fun in the weeks that lead up to Winter Break. You can help us get into the spirit by donating to the Amazon wishlist. Let's make this a December to Remember!
Thank a Charger
We are so grateful for each member of our connected Charger community. Please take a moment to recognize a staff or faculty member in our Charger community who has had a positive impact in your life by writing a note of thanks. Share your note here.

Federal Impact Aid
The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:
- Military families.
- Federally connected families.
- Families living on a military base.
Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the enrolling parent can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form. The Federal Impact Aid Survey is available to complete in ParentVue. For families without access to ParentVUE, a paper copy of the form will be sent home with your student on November 22. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.
NOVA’s Early Online College is back for the Spring 2025 Semester!
NOVA Early Online College (EOC) allows current high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take up to 2 tuition free college courses.
Fourteen different courses are being offered in the Spring 2025 semester. Courses are asynchronous, online, and for college credit only. These courses run for 12 weeks. EOC courses are selected because they meet the requirements for most of NOVA’s Associate degrees as well as being highly transferable as general education requirements for most colleges and universities. Students must meet eligibility requirements (GPA or available test scores) to take EOC courses.
New Textbook Policy: Some EOC courses require a textbook. Students will be automatically enrolled in NOVA ALL ACCESS ($22.50 per credit hour). Students may make the payment for course materials in their myNOVA account or opt out and purchase the course materials on their own. Review details about NOVA All Access so students can make an informed decision.

Supporting Your Child’s Mental Health
Children go through a lot of changes, and it can be hard to tell if their behavior is developmentally appropriate or if they could benefit from mental health support. It’s important to talk to your child and pay attention to their actions, especially these warning signs:
- Increased irritability, hyperactivity, energy, and/or aggressive behavior.
- Excessive sadness, hopelessness, or worries.
- Loss of appetite, or significant weight gain or loss.
- Lack of sleep or too much sleep.
- A decline in grades, school avoidance, or attendance concerns.
- Alcohol or drug use.
- Withdrawal from activities and/or friends and family.
- Thoughts of harming themselves or others.
If you notice any of these warning signs or feel your child may be experiencing a mental health challenge, help is available. Click here for staff contact information to discuss your concerns and identify resources. Find additional ways to support your child’s wellness.
If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis such as thoughts of harming themselves or others, please take action right away. Call 988, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health Emergency Services at 703-573-5679.
No-Cost Virtual Therapy for High School Students
Parents/caregivers no longer need to opt in their child to receive Hazel Health’s teletherapy services. This will make the referral process easier for families. Virtual therapy sessions are available to FCPS high school students at no cost to provide them with a safe space to address concerns such as:
- Mood/behavior changes, motivation, grief/loss
- Anxiety, worry, fears
- Social skills, bullying, peer and family relationships
- Academic stress
You may refer your child by calling 571-749-2940 or by contacting our school counselor, social worker, psychologist, or director of Student Services.
Visit the FCPS Teletherapy webpage for more information.
