Dear Eagle View Families,
It’s hard to believe that the first quarter is coming to an end! This week, we hosted a Coffee with the Principal in partnership with our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher and Reading Specialist. Parents joined us to learn about the new language arts curriculum and the continuum of services in advanced academics. It was wonderful seeing so many families engaged and connecting with each other. Our next Coffee with the Principal will be in November, where we’ll explore the “HOUSE SYSTEM.” We encourage you to join us and learn about how our house system fosters teamwork and a sense of belonging at Eagle View.
This week, we also celebrated 10 students whose names were drawn for Ice Cream with the Principal as a part of our Perfect 10 attendance award. These students enjoyed ice cream with me as a reward for their dedication to being at school on time for 10 consecutive days. We look forward to continuing to celebrate more students for Perfect 10 attendance this Thursday, October 31st. We are proud of all our hardworking eagles and their commitment to showing up ready to learn each day!
Here are some reminders for the coming week:
-
Monday, October 28th, will be a three-hour early release. If you indicated that your child will stay until 4 PM, there is no change to their dismissal time; otherwise, dismissal will be at 1 PM. Please plan to meet Kindergarten students at the bus stop three hours earlier. The early release does not affect our preschool program, as Preschool and PAC students will remain until 4 PM, and AM/PM ECCB classes will follow their regular schedule. Buses will run as usual at 1 PM and 4 PM for students needing the later pick-up, and SACC will be open for afternoon students, closing at the regular time.
-
Thursday, October 31st is the last day of the first quarter, with students being dismissed two hours early at 2:00 PM.
-
Friday, November 1st will be a holiday. School is closed on this day.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to an engaging second quarter!
Sincerely,
KJ An
Principal
Eagle View's SCA is proud to present Operation Shoebox: Candy Drive to collect candy for our troops deployed abroad. We are turning this into a friendly competition. Help your house win this candy drive! The winning house will be announced at our Veteran's Day Celebration on November 12th!
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms in November. Please be sure to return them by Friday, November 17.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information.
Need to Register for ParentVUE?
Learn how to activate your SIS ParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey.
Technical support for using ParentVUE or completing the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type Federal Impact Aid Survey under Issue Description. Or, call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid invites you to share your thoughts and ask questions at the final community conversation this fall. It will be held Wednesday, October 30, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Herndon Middle School. Click the date to register. Childcare and language interpretation services will be provided.
All People's Community Church (APCC) is a proud community partner of Eagle View Elementary School. APCC is hosting fall festival on October 27th and is inviting Eagle View families to join them. There will be moon bounce, raffle, food, and fun games! Admission is free.
Safeway Pharmacy will host immunization clinics for any FCPS student age 18 or younger at Frost Middle School on Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are highly encouraged to avoid wait times. A parent or guardian must accompany walk-in students age 18 or younger to provide consent. Learn more about immunization resources and registering in other languages for the Safeway clinic.
Students age 19 and older may access free immunizations at their middle/high school immunization clinic, the Fairfax County Health Department or through other community resources.
Elementary School Clinics
The Fairfax County Health Department will provide immunizations for FCPS elementary students on limited early release Mondays at their district offices. All school-required immunizations will be offered at no cost. Call 703-246-7100 to make your appointment.
