Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

A crisp autumn chill has descended upon Saxon Country, as students and staff have settled into the school year. Great things are happening throughout Langley. Our students are shining on the stage, court and field.

Our Saxon student-athletes and performers continue to shine! Our varsity field hockey, girls' volleyball, and football teams are dominating their seasons, while our talented choir students wowed audiences with their incredible performances during this week's concerts. Congratulations to our Saxon Co-ed Golf-Northern Region Champions! We're so proud of these Saxons for pursuing their passions at such a high level.

To address the concerns raised by the recent changes to FCPS grading policies, we're clarifying the school's retake policy. Teachers have been instructed to update their syllabi accordingly.

Langley High School Retake Policy:

To align with division policy and FCPS Secondary Grading and Reporting, Langley High School will implement the following:  For summative assessments, at least one new opportunity to demonstrate proficiency up to 100% shall be provided to any student who completes corrective action determined by the collaborative team.  In the past, the student’s highest score would be entered into the gradebook.  It is our policy that this practice continues.  When a student attempts a re-take assessment, the higher grade will be the one recorded in the gradebook.

Once again, I'm incredibly grateful for your ongoing support and partnership. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Fondly,

3
