SPIRIT NIGHT: Dairy Queen!
Plan your Friday treat outing and support the PTA at Dairy Queen in downtown Herndon at 742 Lynn Street on Friday, September 6th from 4-8 PM! 20% of proceeds will be donated to Dranesville - Be sure to mention you are with Dranesville Elementary.
Get your Spirit Wear at Back to School Night!
Make sure to stop by the PTA table at Back to School night on Wednesday, September 11th. We will be there with spirit wear, info on upcoming events, and more!
The PTA will have tables set up inside school through the Main Entrance at Door # 5.

Once again, the PTA will be sponsoring Start with Hello Week. An initiative of Sandy Hook Promise, this program teaches students how to create a culture of kindness - and increase inclusivity and empathy with their classmates.
Parent volunteers are needed to join us as the doors to school open that Monday to say Hello to all students and for activities throughout the week

Themes for the week:
- Monday – Welcome Monday: Volunteers needed to greet students from 8:30am – 9:20 AM
- Tuesday – Take What You Need Tuesday
- Wednesday – Icebreaker Bingo
- Thursday – Meet/Include New Peers
- Friday – Random Acts of Kindness

DRAGON DAYS
Dragon Days are specific Fridays throughout the year where parents, guardians or family members can spend the day volunteering in school.
Support our teachers/staff and make new connections!
Arrive early to welcome each student.
Participate in your student's morning meeting.
Support in multiple classrooms.

PTA HOSTED BREAKFAST for the STAFF
Each month this school year our staff will be gathering for a monthly meeting before school. We’d love to show our appreciation by providing breakfast for these morning meetings. Each month a different grade level will “host”, beginning with 6th grade.
The PTA is excited to partner with the 6th Grade families to host September’s staff breakfast on Friday, September 13th. There are many ways you can contribute including monetary donations, food donations, and volunteering. If you are making a food contribution, please drop off to the cafeteria between 8-8:15 AM.

Therapeutic Arts Science & Growth Mindset Workshops
Session 1 starts this week!!
Fall 2024 Curriculum: Art of Doodling, Watercolor Wildflowers, Mystery Science, Self Compassion, Power of Poetry, Acrylic Art Game

Dragon Runners
Dragon Runners is a running program designed for 3rd-6th graders. This is an exciting program that is aimed at strengthening students in body and spirit by combining group activities with running.

MLS GO After-School League
MLS GO is Major League Soccer’s recreational youth soccer program, with the mission of creating an inclusive and elevated experience for all participants! MLS GO will offer two after-school leagues at Dranesville this Fall, hosted by Overtime Athletics.
GRADES 1-3: Tuesdays, 9/24-11/19, 4:25-5:25 PM
GRADES 4-6: Thursdays, 9/19-11/21, 4:25-5:25 PM

Snapology
Snapology’s STEAM programs teach through building. Using LEGO® bricks, kids have fun while they learn. Snapology classes are designed based on research that shows children’s best learning experiences come from actively designing, creating, interacting, and inventing.
Dranesville will offer two Snapology sessions in the Fall of 2024:
Grades K-2 - Junior Engineers: Thursdays, 4:25 - 5:25 p.m., Sept. 19 - Nov. 7
Grades 3-6 - Amusement Park Engineering: Thursdays, 4:25 - 5:25 p.m., Sept. 19 - Nov. 7

Chess Club Hosted by Magnus Academy
Learn chess with Magnus Academy, the five time world champion’s academy! Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.
