Please join us on Sept 10th from 6 - 8 PM as we conduct the first of three Academic Nights at Lorton Station for K-6 parents. At the event, we will review the new Benchmark Advanced Curriculum that FCPS has adopted for use in the classroom. We will also review the latest math standards that Virginia adopted this year. We hope to provide you answers to three key questions.
1. What is my child learning this quarter?
2. What resources is the school utilizing to teach my child?
3. How can I support my child at home?
We will also share information on the AAP (Advanced Academic Program) at Lorton Station from our AART Ms. Slye. We hope to see you there!!
Early Release Monday
The Early Release Mondays planned throughout the school year for elementary schools are essential to allow educators time for planning and professional development. Students will be dismissed 3 hours early seven times throughout the school year and are encouraged to return home via their normal route. However, we understand there may be a childcare hardship because of the early release Mondays for many of our families. To resolve these concerns, student supervision will be available for families who need it.
The following dates are planned for Early Release Mondays throughout the school year:
To help plan for our school’s childcare needs during the early release Mondays, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/ras3TxVdNNNXn2Mx9 for each of your children who are enrolled at Lorton Station Elementary. The form covers the first two early release Mondays, scheduled for September 16, 2024 and October 21, 2024. If you have multiple children, you will need to submit multiple forms. Staff will confirm the after school supervision plan for each student.
Picture Day is coming on Thursday, September 19! Lifetouch School Photography, known for capturing school pictures from K-12 nationwide, will take our school photos this year. For more information about Picture Day, check out the flyer provided or visit: https://schools.lifetouch.com/for-your-families/
National Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15 to October 15, FCPS recognizes and celebrates the histories and cultures of the members of our community who trace their heritage to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS. Learn more about National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Message from our Art Teachers

Reynolds’ classic storybook The Dot and making their own dot to display in the school. Celebrate Dot Day at Lorton Station by wearing all your polka dots on Friday, September 15th!
