Principal’s Message

Dear Terraset Families,

What an amazing first couple of days of school we have had! It has been incredible to see our children joyfully learning new routines, catching up with friends at lunch, and building relationships with teachers, staff, and other students. Thank you for sharing your child/ren and partnering with us to ensure it is a successful year.

As those of you returning know, the beginning of the school year brings much information to be shared and required forms to be completed. Please be sure to read the Terragram thoroughly and turn in any outstanding forms. Should you need any help, please call our main office at 703-390-5600 for support.

Yours in partnership,

Katie Aldridge, Principal

Dave Ickowski, Assistant Principal

🐯Welcome New Staff!

We are thrilled to welcome several new tigers to our staff this school year! Meet them here and be sure to say hello when you see them around the building!

💊Student Medications

If your student requires medication during the school day, you may drop-off medications at Open House on August 15th. If you cannot make this date, medications can be brought to the health room during school hours once the school year begins. Elementary students are not permitted to transport medication in backpacks. Please click here for necessary medication forms.

🩺Student Health Conditions

If your student has any health conditions that may affect his/her school day, please fill out the Health Information Form (SS/SE 71) on paper and return to school or electronically in SIS ParentVUE.

🚑Emergency Care Card

Please make sure your student's emergency care card (SS/SE 3) is updated for this year. It is important that we have updated information to be able to contact you in case of emergency or transportation issues on the first day.

📝Opt-Out Flier

The 2024-25 Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms flyer is now online. If you wish to opt your child out of any of the activities mentioned in the opt-out booklet, you must complete and return the appropriate forms to your child’s school or online through the Parent Digital Consent system.

💻Digital Resource Consent Form

We want your child to get the most out of their school experience! To open up a world of exciting activities and valuable opportunities, we need your collaboration. Please take a moment at the beginning of the school year to review and provide your consent through our easy-to-use Parent Digital Consent system. Please reach out to Lauren Boyd if you have questions.

✏️Student Three-Hour Early Release Mondays

The Early Release Mondays planned throughout the school year for elementary schools are essential to allow educators time for planning and professional development.  Students will be dismissed 3 hours early seven times throughout the school year and are encouraged to return home via their normal route.  However, we understand there may be a childcare hardship because of the early release Mondays for many of our families.  To resolve these concerns, student supervision will be available for families who need it.

The following dates are planned for Early Release Mondays throughout the school year:

  • September 23
  • October 28
  • November 25
  • February 24
  • March 17
  • April 28
  • May 19

To help plan for our school’s childcare needs during the early release Mondays, please complete this form for each of your children who are enrolled at Terraset Elementary. The form covers the first two early release Mondays, scheduled for September 23, 2024 and October 28, 2024. If you have multiple children, you will need to submit multiple forms. Staff will confirm the after school supervision plan for each student.
