A Note from the Principal

Hello Daniels Run Community,

My name is Susan Mullen, and I am honored to be the new principal of Daniels Run Elementary. I join you from Loudoun County, bringing 23 years of educational experience, including the past eight years as a principal.

Even after just two days at Daniels Run, I can already tell what a special community I have joined. Daniels Run is a school with deep community support and cherished traditions. I want to assure you that all the wonderful aspects you love about Daniels Run will continue.

I am looking forward to meeting all of Daniels Run's families and students. This is a busy time of year as we prepare for the new school year to begin. I want you to know that I will be available at all of our Back-to-School events. Additionally, I will be hosting an introductory Principal's Coffee on August 19th in our cafeteria immediately after drop-off. This session will be a meet-and-greet—a chance for you to get to know me and for me to meet you. A strong family-school partnership is essential to me, and I look forward to being a partner in your child's education.

Warm regards,

Susan Mullen

All multilingual learners and their families are invited to attend a summit on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 5-8:30 p.m. at Annandale High School.

The summit will be primarily geared for secondary multilingual learners, but all are welcome to attend. The goal of the summit is to foster an environment of empowerment where multilingual students and their families can establish meaningful connections, engage in active listening, and openly share their experiences, cultivating mutual support and a deeper understanding of educational pathways within FCPS.

This event will begin with a table fair showcasing many opportunities available within FCPS and the wider community that support paths to graduation and future careers for students.  Additionally, a keynote will be presented by Dr. Jose Luis Zelaya who will share a message about the power of community and resilience.  A student panel will dialogue with Dr. Zelaya following the keynote.

Refreshments and light food will be served. Language and childcare services will be available.  All secondary level multilingual learners have been invited centrally from FCPS via email.  Registration is open for students, families, or staff planning to attend.
