I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful and relaxing summer break! As we cherish these sunny days, I wanted to share some valuable resources for your child to make the most of their summer and also provide you with important dates to mark on your calendars for the upcoming school year.

*New* Monday Early Release Schedule
We wanted to provide a reminder and follow up to the FCPS communication that was sent in June regarding seven three hour early release Mondays for elementary students in the 24-25 year. West Springfield ES will have a seven hour early release on the below dates dismissing at 12:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get in your medical appointments without missing school!

- March 10
- April 21
- May 12
This time will be utilized for teacher planning time to support students, complete required professional development for the new Virginia Literacy Act, new reading and math standard and other initiatives. Summer Reading Challenge
This year’s summer reading challenge has an Olympic theme. Ms. Stevenson has created a series of reading challenges based on Olympic Events and hopes that you will encourage your child to complete as many “events” as possible! Forms returned to school by August 31st will receive a small prize.

Summer Math Support
If you are looking for ways to support your student’s mathematical learning, FCPS has created a page with a variety of optional resources. You can view them at the link here. ST Math will continue to be available over the summer and ST Math family resources are also linked on the FCPS page.
