We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we wanted to share some information around upcoming events and dates. Rolling Valley is hosting summer school, and we have dedicated staff members available to answer any of your questions Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Upcoming Dates
2024 - 2025 School Calendar
The 2024 - 2025 FCPS School Year Calendar can be accessed here. We encourage families to review the calendar when considering trips or preplanned absences.
Early Release Mondays
We wanted to provide a reminder and follow up to the FCPS communication that was sent in June regarding seven three hour early release Mondays for elementary students in the 24-25 year. Rolling Valley ES will have a three hour early release on the below dates at 1:00 pm:
- September 16
- October 21
- November 18
- February 10
- March 10
- April 21
- May 12
This time will be utilized for teacher planning time to support students, complete required professional development for the new Virginia Literacy Act, new reading and math standard and other initiatives.

Summer Math Support
If you are looking for ways to support your student’s mathematical learning, FCPS has created a page with a variety of optional resources. You can view them at the link here. ST Math will continue to be available over the summer and ST Math family resources are also linked on the FCPS page.

Monitor Needed
We are excited to announce that we are looking for a dedicated monitor for the 2024-2025 school year. This rewarding position offers a unique opportunity to spend quality time with our students and support their needs here at Rolling Valley. If you love interacting with children and want to make a positive impact in our school community, we would love to hear from you! Registration Information
Need to Register?
Please visit - https://www.fcps.edu/online-registration - where you will find the steps to complete a New Student Registration.
When the online enrollment is complete, please email Lourdes Presnell at lcpresnell@fcps.edu to let her know when you would like to schedule a registration appointment.
A response email will be sent confirming date and time of your appointment.
You will need to bring the following items to the registration:
- The student's original birth certificate.
- A Deed/Lease for your residence. The enrolling parent's name must be on the document.
- Your photo ID.
- A Certificate of Physical Examination and immunization record are also required, but you can schedule your registration appointment without them. The Certificate of Physical Examination and immunizations must be turned in before the first day of school, August 19, 2024.
- Any other documents you selected "Bring a Hardcopy".
