Principal Message

Dear Terraset Families,

THANK YOU for an incredible 2023-2024 school year! As we finish up, we’d like to take a moment to express the incredible pride we have for our Tigers and the Terraset community. Our children have accomplished so much! They have met academic goals, grown in their dedication and resilience, and demonstrated kindness and compassion for others time and time again. It is truly an honor to serve them and each of you as your Terraset Administrators.

We would also like to send a special heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS to all of our 6th grade Tigers as they head into middle school. We know that they will continue to succeed in all they do in the future! Huge thanks to our Terraset PTO and the 6th grade parent committee for all of their hard work to make sure our 6th graders had a memorable celebration to end their time as elementary school students.

Please note:  The 6th grade promotion ceremony tomorrow will look slightly different. Families are asked to enter at Door 2 (near the gym) to sign in then head to the gym. Due to the high volume of expected traffic throughout the day in the office, we ask that families bring any siblings they would like to have attend the promotion with them directly from home. At the conclusion of the ceremony we will ask families to be a part of the parade by lining the path between Doors 3 and 5. If you are checking out your 6th grader following the ceremony, you will be able to indicate that at sign in and take your child at the conclusion of the parade.

Finally, please note that tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12th, is our last day of school and students will be dismissed 2 hours early at 2:05 PM.

Warmly,

Katie Aldridge, Principal

Dave Ickowski, Assistant Principal

Summer Office Hours

Summer office hours are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Have a wonderful summer!

End of the Year Medication Pick-Up Reminder from the Health Room

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time, 2:05 p.m., on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Lost and Found Items – Claim Before End of School Year

We have another large collection of student Lost and Found items! Please remind your student to check Lost and Found before the end of the year. Parents are welcome to come check as well. Please consider doing this when in the building for end of year activities and celebrations. All items will be donated or disposed of after June 12th.

🏫Kindergarten Registration Appointment Sign-Up

Hello rising kindergarten families! When you have your student’s paperwork ready to submit, please use this link to schedule an appointment with Ms. Johnson, the school's Registrar.

The medical information (physical and immunization record) can be submitted prior to August 19, 2024. All documents are required to ensure your child is ready to start on the first day.

If the selected dates don’t work for your schedule, contact Ms. Johnson via email smjohnson2@fcps.edu or by phone 703-390-5602 to make other arrangements.

🖍️Apply for FCPS PreK and Early Head Start

FCPS PreK and Early Head Start programs provide a quality preschool experience with comprehensive services at no cost to qualifying families who reside in Fairfax County. Your family may qualify for PreK or Early Head Start if you:

  • have a child who will be age 3 or 4 by September 30,
  • receive free or reduced-price school meals, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Social Security Income, and/or homeless per definition of the McKinney Vento Act, or
  • receive resources such as from a shelter and/or the FCPS homeless liaison office.

Though families may qualify, spaces are limited and selection is based on need, not “first come, first serve”, with PreK priority given to 4 year olds. The application process begins January 1st for the upcoming school year. However it is important for all families to apply as soon as possible.

Early Head Start is for children 0-2 years of age and pregnant women who live in the Reston, Herndon and Springfield areas.

Visit this website for more information and application links!
