Join the Summer Reading Adventure!

Chantilly High School is building off the program for the Fairfax County Public library this summer to encourage students to keep reading. From June 12 through the rest of the summer, students can participate in Fairfax County Public Library’s Summer Reading Adventure. We are encouraging students to track the books they read, then visit their neighborhood branch to receive prizes for meeting reading goals.

To add to the fun, when school starts back up in August, students will share what they read with their English teacher. Students who participate will be entered into a drawing for bonus prizes like tickets to school events and Chantilly HS merchandise. Visit fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org for details on how to register and participate.

Keep your mind active this summer and join the adventure! More information and to register: https://research.fairfaxcounty.gov/reading-challenges/summer-reading

As always, I welcome your feedback, questions, and suggestions. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.

Amy Goodloe, Ed.D.

Principal, Chantilly HS

Online Campus Summer Registration Closing Soon!

Registration for summer classes with FCPS' Online Campus will close on Friday, June 7. Online campus courses are for students in grades 7-12. Email OnlineCampus@fcps.edu or call 703-503-7781 with any questions.

Registration is also still available for the Institute for the Arts (IFTA) and Elementary-IFTA (E-IFTA) arts camps, and Credit Recovery Academy.

Leaving FCPS? Backup Google Drive!

If you are preparing to graduate or leave FCPS for any reason, it’s important to know that your Google Workspace account will be automatically deactivated once you are no longer actively enrolled in FCPS. This process happens during the summer, shortly after the end of the school year.  Once your account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to login to your FCPS Google Drive or access your FCPS Gmail.

If you will no longer be an FCPS student after this school year, download or export any files you wish to keep before June 12th, 2024. The download process of files can take several days, so please make sure to give yourself plenty of time.

This year students have the option to use Google Takeout to export their files. Visit Google’s directions here: How to download your Google data using Takeout. It’s important to know that you will only be able to export files for which you are the owner.

If you’d prefer to manually select files from your Drive to download, follow the Downloading Your Data instructions on the Google Workspace Information for Students and Parents page of the FCPS website

🥗 Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance!

It’s a busy time of year, and we know there are many priorities on families’ plates. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2024-25 school year will be available this summer.

If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2022-23 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price lunch.

How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be posted in SIS ParentVUE, or sent by mail or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines

Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about student assessments, including what each assessment is testing for and how to interpret the test results. Caregivers should contact their children’s teacher with any testing questions.
