Flint Hill Updates

Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,

End-of-year celebrations are in full swing all over FHES. Today, many classes began their EOY celebrations. Tomorrow the excitement will continue with our annual Field Day. I am looking forward to being "slimed" by the read-a-thon winners as part of the field day activities!

On Thursday, students from JMHS visited Flint Hill to share their presentations of learning projects. 4th graders had the opportunity to see the hard work of these Madison students and were a fantastic audience. Way to go 4th grade!

This week, FHES can celebrate that we were recognized as a Green Flag School. FHES is continuing a wonderful tradition and commitment to outdoor learning and environmentally conscious practices. Ms. Kuykendall led the effort to renew the certification for FHES and we are grateful for her leadership in this effort!

Please join me in congratulating Sra. Diaz who was recently selected to receive an educator grant from the Alpha Delta Kappa Grant for Educators program. In the new school year, FHES students will benefits from $500 in funding to support instruction and opportunities in Spanish. Congratulations Sra. Diaz!

If you would like your student to donate their used school supplies, please see the information in the message below. We can make sure used school supplies get to students and organizations who can put them to good use.

Lastly, please remember that June 12th is the last day of school for students. This day will be a 2-hour early release and students will be dismissed at 1:35 pm.

Kindly,

Mr. Montaquila, Principal

Mr. Baker, Assistant Principal

Field Day Reminder: Tomorrow!

Students will be participating in Field Day activities this Friday, June 7.

                9:30 - 11:30AM: Grades 4-6

                12:30 - 2:30PM: K-Grade 3

The forecast is calling for temperature should be between 80-85 degrees and mostly sunny.

Please reference the items below to ensure your student is prepared for fun in the sun!

Is your student ready?

 Your student needs:

  • Sunscreen- apply BEFORE arriving at school
  • Sunglasses/Hat (optional)
  • Safe shoes for running relay races and water activities *CROCS are not recommended due to slippery conditions from water stations
  • A FULL Change of clothes in a bag (they will put their wet clothes in this bag and have time to change into dry clothes) *HIGHLY Recommended!!
  • WATER – bring a water bottle from home with ice and water, they can always refill water but ice is helpful to keep cool
  • Bug repellent recommended
  • Please note that siblings who are not currently enrolled at FHES are not permitted to attend Field Day. This decision is made in the interest of safety, as there will be multiple grade levels rotating through 13 stations every 8 minutes. We also want to ensure that current FHES students have maximum participation and enjoyment during Field Day, and accommodating outside students could detract from this experience. Thank you for your understanding.

School Supply Kit Sales - Order by June 25th!

It's time to place your School Supply Kit order for the 2024-2025 school year! The PTA is excited to once again offer our popular school supply kit program. Visit educationalproducts to get everything you need for next school year from the convenience of your own home. (Please remember to order NEXT year’s grade level supplies for your student.) Our school code is FLI018. These kits match our school requirements for each grade. When you buy through EPI, $5 from every kit goes toward school supplies for children in need at FHES and other FHES PTA endeavors. Thanks for your support!

Are you interested in providing additional support for Flint Hill students in need of assistance with their school supplies?  Please consider purchasing additional kits for our Guidance Department to distribute.  Any grade level kit can be donated and the student’s name should read ‘DONATION’ in the First and Last Name fields. Thank you for your consideration!

Deadline to order is June 25th! All supplies will be delivered to your child's classroom prior to the first day of school. Questions? Please contact Erin Miller

Donating Used and Unused School Supplies

Flint Hill will be donating both used and unused school supplies at the end of the year.  These will include pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, pink erasers, scissors, glue sticks that are still useable, and pencil boxes.

Please talk to your child about which of these items you are okay with them donating and which items you would like to return home for use at home or next school year. Backpacks that you do not plan on reusing can also be donated.

Collection boxes will be in the front hallway until the last day of school.

Thank you for helping reduce our end-of-the-year waste!
