 Principal Message
Dear Terraset Families,
Wow, it’s hard to believe it is already June! This means our Tiger Family can see the finish line to the end of the 23-24 school year. This week is a great opportunity to have a conversation with our children about the importance of finishing the year strong. Understanding this message will continue to support our Tigers now and in the future.
While there are many fun events such as Field day and the Talent show for our students to enjoy during the school day in the coming days, we are continuing our high quality instruction through the last day of school. We greatly appreciate your partnership in centering our last weeks together around our core mission of teaching and learning along with our end of year activities.

End of the Year Medication Pick-Up Reminder from the Health Room
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time, 2:05 p.m., on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
Lost and Found Items – Claim Before End of School Year
We have another large collection of student Lost and Found items! Please remind your student to check Lost and Found before the end of the year. Parents are welcome to come check as well. Please consider doing this when in the building for end of year activities and celebrations. All items will be donated or disposed of after June 12th.
🏫Kindergarten Registration Appointment Sign-Up
Hello rising kindergarten families! When you have your student’s paperwork ready to submit, please use this link to schedule an appointment with Ms. Johnson, the school's Registrar.
The medical information (physical and immunization record) can be submitted prior to August 19, 2024. All documents are required to ensure your child is ready to start on the first day.
If the selected dates don’t work for your schedule, contact Ms. Johnson via email smjohnson2@fcps.edu or by phone 703-390-5602 to make other arrangements.
🖍️Apply for FCPS PreK and Early Head Start
FCPS PreK and Early Head Start programs provide a quality preschool experience with comprehensive services at no cost to qualifying families who reside in Fairfax County. Your family may qualify for PreK or Early Head Start if you:
- have a child who will be age 3 or 4 by September 30,
- receive free or reduced-price school meals, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Social Security Income, and/or homeless per definition of the McKinney Vento Act, or
- receive resources such as from a shelter and/or the FCPS homeless liaison office.
Though families may qualify, spaces are limited and selection is based on need, not “first come, first serve”, with PreK priority given to 4 year olds. The application process begins January 1st for the upcoming school year. However it is important for all families to apply as soon as possible.
Early Head Start is for children 0-2 years of age and pregnant women who live in the Reston, Herndon and Springfield areas.

TOMORROW, June 5 - Join Us for the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration AND Tigers on the Town Join us at Red’s Table on June 5th for appetizers from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This celebration is our June PTO “meeting” and all are welcome to help us celebrate an awesome year of fun and hard work together. 15% of all Terraset receipts will be donated back to the PTO so be sure to also grab a drink or dinner while you are there!

2024-2025 School Supply Kits Are Now Available!
The PTO is partnering with a new vendor, Campus Survival Kits, to provide our school supply kits for next school year. The online store is now open, so place your order now and give yourself one less thing to remember over the summer!
We are already beginning to look ahead to next year and we want to have as many parents involved as possible! Please check out our slideshow of what we have done across this year and let us know via this form if there are things you’d be interested in helping out with next year!
🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders
Immunizations are required for all students entering 7th and 12th grades this fall. Visit the FCPS immunization webpage to learn about the required vaccines. Caregivers should ask their private healthcare provider or the health department to review their student's immunization record to ensure that their student has received these required immunizations.
It is important to schedule immunizations early in the summer, as seventh grade students must submit documentation of the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines before they begin school in August. Twelfth grade students must submit documentation of the Meningococcal vaccine. Get more information on all student immunization requirements.

Fairfax County Park Authority is Hosting its 1st Puzzle Hunt!
When: Launches June 15, 2024
The Solving Fun Puzzle Pals have been hard at work, creating an exhilarating adventure for puzzle solvers. We are thrilled to announce the Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt, a unique community event that will take you on a journey to the wonderful parks in Fairfax County. Starting this summer, solve one puzzle or do them all. Puzzles are filled with creative thinking, logic, and wordplay. They are designed to be challenging and accessible for all skill levels. Solve the puzzles and then find clues at the parks for a final meta-puzzle. Walk, bike, and roll at our wonderful local parks with friends and family.
