RVES Family Newsletter May 31

May 31 - Family Newsletter

Rolling Valley Families,

What an exciting week it has been for our Rockin' Robins! Even with a short week, our students were engaged in numerous activities both in the classrooms and on field trips.

The 3rd graders had a fantastic time exploring Colvin Run! After their adventure, they returned to school and swiftly prepared for their "Temples and Tombs" performance, which was a great success thanks to their hard work and practice.

The much-anticipated trip to The St. James was a hit among our 6th graders. They enjoyed their final field trip of the year, and we received numerous photos capturing their fun-filled day.

Our dedicated student musicians delivered a great evening and school-wide concert. They did such a great job truly showing all their hard work and preparation over the course of the year.

Our kindergartners proudly presented their knowledge about ants in a community gathering. Their song about ants was a big hit, with many students in the audience joining in the fun.

We had a wonderful week and are looking forward to next week’s activities, including Field Days!

Have a great weekend!

Lost Laptop Power Cords – FCPSOn Laptops – Grades 3-6

If the FCPS Dell 65W power adapter that was assigned to your child with the FCPS laptop is not returned with the laptop, it will need to be replaced.  Families are responsible for the cost of replacement and can pay for it through MySchoolBucks here: https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/getmain?requestAction=home between 5/21/24 and 6/14/2024.  The cost of the replacement power cord is $29. We ask that you pay for the replacement power adapter through MySchoolBucks rather than buy a replacement elsewhere. The school will use your payment to purchase a new Dell 65W power adapter like the one originally issued. We cannot accept third-party replacement cords as returns for the original as it is a safety and compatibility concern.  You are welcome to purchase a replacement at any time one is needed.  Non-working Dell power adapters are replaced by FCPS, so please send those to school with your student and ask that they or their teacher submit a tech support request.

MySchoolBucks - Getting started is a simple three-step process!

  1. Download the app or visit the MySchoolBucks homepage and click on “Sign Up Free”.
  2. Create a user profile with your email address, establish a password, and set up your security questions.
  3. Add a Student to your account using the student’s name, date of birth, and/or student ID number. (Some schools and districts may require either the student’s date of birth or student ID number.)

If you have any questions regarding MySchoolBucks or the steps to take to replace the lost power cord, please contact Anne Walker, the school Finance Assistant, in the Rolling Valley Main Office at amwalker@fcps.edu or by calling 703-923-2700.

Nurse's Corner!

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site  on  the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
