  • Check your child’s attendance record.
  • Help your student stay engaged at school.
  • Report future absences.
  • Understand the FCPS school calendar.

  2. Performances: There will be two after-school concert performances (dates TBD). Additional performance opportunities may arise, but participation in these will be voluntary.

Fourth graders can choose strings, while fifth and sixth graders can opt for either band or strings. Instrument classes are held once a week without interfering with other instructional time. Students who do not participate in Band/Strings will take a third general music class.

Parent Volunteer Breakfast - Last Day to RSVP
We welcome our parent volunteers to join us on June 7th at 8:15 am in the cafeteria for a community breakfast. Please RSVP TODAY.

Sensory Garden Plant Sign Up
Our 6th grade students have been working on creating a sensory garden in the unused courtyard opposite of the 1st grade classrooms. They've designed a model using various software and have grown herbs in three hydroponic gardens, ready for transplant. They've also prepared a list of mostly native perennials to plant. We're now ready to start planting and need help from the WSES community. While we've received a grant for garden beds and soil, we need to provide our own plants. Please see the Sign-up Genius link below to contribute to our Sensory Garden.

Thank you, in advance, for your generosity! Amy Stevenson on behalf of 6C and the Green Team

Class Placements
Due to a significant increase in enrollment changes over the summer, we will no longer be able to announce class placements at the end of the school year. Instead, class placements will be communicated on Wednesday, August 14th.

Medication Pick Up
Medication stored in the school health room must be picked up by student dismissal on the last day of school to avoid destruction.

  • Parents or guardians must collect medications; they cannot be sent home with students.

Retirements
We have two additional retirements to celebrate! We wish Chris Franco, Kindergarten Instructional Assistant and Roger Hartman, Crossing Guard, a very happy retirement!

A Fond Farewell to Some of our Mustangs
We sadly announce the departure of the following staff who have accepted new positions closer to their homes. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and hope that their new roles bring them closer to their families and loved ones, providing the balance and convenience they seek. Please join us in wishing the following staff a fond farewell: Brittany Lee, Centreville ES; Alisha Perry, Browne Academy; Sarah Sullivan; Clermont ES, and Kadija Ali, Sleepy Hollow ES.

Family Ambassadors Wanted
In pursuit of this goal, we are seeking Family Ambassadors.  The Family Ambassadors will welcome new families in their chosen grade level and offer support as they familiarize themselves with WSES and their grade level. If you're interested on becoming a Family Ambassador, kindly fill out this form. An informational meeting will be held in the Fall.
