🥗 Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance!
It’s a busy time of year, and we know there are many priorities on families’ plates. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2024-25 school year will be available this summer.
If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2022-23 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price lunch.
🎓Colleges Still Accepting Applications
The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has released their annual list of colleges and universities that are still accepting applications from prospective freshmen or transfer students for the fall of 2023. Students and families are encouraged to use this tool to search colleges that still have space available. Users may narrow down the list of schools by state and view whether a school still has financial aid, as well as unfilled housing.
Additionally, NACAC has created an enrollment deposit fee waiver request form, considered by some institutions, for students experiencing significant financial hardship. Families can learn more about the enrollment deposit fee waiver and eligibility on the NACAC website. It is recommended that students and families contact their school counselor or college and career specialist with any questions.Students who still need assistance applying for the FAFSA or VASA (financial aid forms) can schedule a free appointment with our partners at College Access Fairfax. Email appointments@CollegeAccessFairfax.org. All FAFSA or VASA help that your school or College Access Fairfax provides is free.
FHS Testing Calendar
Students will be taking SOL tests and digital AP exams on their FCPS-issued Chromebooks. To minimize issues on exam day:
- It is critical that ALL students bring their Chromebooks FULLY CHARGED.
-
Each student should also have their own power cord as the school does not have extras to lend.
- Students will receive their testing schedule a week before their exam.
- PLEASE make sure students are diligent about checking their SCHOOL email (@fcpsschools.net account).
Thank you for your help in ensuring your student is prepared to do their best on their exams!
Visit our school website to view the full testing calendar. Click here to download a PDF version: 2024 Spring Exam Schedule.pdf.
Student Google Accounts: Action Needed
 Fairfax students -
If you are preparing to graduate or leave FCPS for any reason, it’s important to know that your Google Workspace account will be automatically deactivated once you are no longer actively enrolled in FCPS. This process happens during the summer, shortly after the end of the school year. Once your account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to login to your FCPS Google Drive or access your FCPS Gmail.
If you will no longer be an FCPS student after this school year, download or export any files you wish to keep before June 12th, 2024. The download process of files can take several days, so please make sure to give yourself plenty of time.
This year students have the option to use Google Takeout to export their files. Visit Google’s directions here: How to download your Google data using Takeout. It’s important to know that you will only be able to export files for which you are the owner.
If you’d prefer to manually select files from your Drive to download, follow the Downloading Your Data instructions on the Google Workspace Information for Students and Parents page of the FCPS website.
Please work with the tech support team at FHS if you have questions.

📝 Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Later this month, you will begin receiving your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, view this list of tests by grade level on FCPS’ website.
How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be posted in SIS ParentVUE, or sent by mail or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about student assessments, including what each assessment is testing for and how to interpret the test results. Caregivers should contact their children’s teacher with any testing questions.
Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE
Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success. Caregivers can view important information in ParentVUE such as attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. A SIS ParentVUE app is available for Apple and Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVUE account? This video explains the steps. Find out more. To create a new account, please contact [school registrar’s name] for an activation letter.

We have a great party planned for our graduates at the St. James sports complex that will include Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, a Casino, DK/Karaoke, Golf Simulators, Airbrush Tattoo Artists, Carnival Games, Food, Prizes and the Super Awesome Amazing Room! Don't let your Senior be left out on graduation night!
Volunteers Needed at the ANG Celebration, June 4
To make this party happen, we need adult volunteers that night at the St. James. In order to have the All Night Graduation Celebration at the St. James, the venue REQUIRES a minimum of 1 chaperone/volunteer per 10 students to run this event! (The St. James will cancel without full volunteer staffing). That means we will need over 60 adult volunteers over two shifts at the party.
We have a range of volunteer positions open – setup, arrival assistance, bag check, food service, casino dealers, prizes, and roving chaperones. We also need people in the leads for these areas. Volunteer shifts run 3 to 4 hours over the course of the night (you can sign-up for two shifts and stay for the whole party).
You can sign up to volunteer at the following SignUpGenius Link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4EA9A62FA7F58-49226288-allnight
Volunteers can be parents, alumni, family, and friends of FHS. This is open to parents with students at ALL grade levels, it is not limited to Senior Class parents (but we certainly want their support). Please to share this link with anyone who may want to help out at the party.
Only You Can Help Make the Party Happen!
Donate to Support the All Night Grad Party
All Family and Friends donations made this week will be matched by an anonymous donor.
Monetary donations to the All Night Graduation Party are always welcome. If you, or your friends and family, would like to make a donation to the All Night Graduation Party, you can donate online at the PTSA’s giving-site: https://fairfaxhs.memberhub.com/store/items/931830
All donations to All Night Grad are tax deductible.
If you have any questions about the All Night Grad Party, or would like to talk about how you can help, please email us at ANG@fairfaxptsa.org. We look forward to all parents’ support for the All Night Grad Party. Together, we will make this a night for our seniors to remember!
