Athletic Booster Information

MEETING - TUESDAY, MAY 6th @ 6:30pm - VIRTUAL LINK

We have teams actively competing in post-season play, so we need volunteers for concessions on:

Tuesday, 5/14 --

5pm Boys LAX Regionals Round 1; 7pm Girls LAX National District Finals.   There is one signup for both games, on the girls signup page; a link to it is provided on the boys signup page.

Things update very quickly at this point in the season.  If more home games are scheduled, we will communicate those concessions needs to you.  These final games are our last chance to earn money through concessions for this year.   Proceeds from concessions sales go to support the entire athletic program, so please help.  It really makes a difference for you to work even one shift, and all you have to do is show up!  The Boosters provides all supplies and will train new volunteers.  Volunteers can request that a $10 donation be made to the Justice athletic team of their choice.  Justice students are welcome as volunteers, and can earn service hours.

Please join us at the final Athletic Boosters meeting of the year, on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:30pm.  It will be virtual, and the link will be available on our website, and on the Activities Office LinkTree

  • We will vote on our slate of officers for 2024-25, and make plans to finish the current year and prepare for next year.
  • We still need volunteers to serve as President, and as Vice President.  Two people can share one or both positions (our Bylaws allows two people to share a position, but the two would share one vote).
  • We have experienced volunteers ready to serve the key positions of Treasurer and Secretary (this volunteer will also take care of all our technology needs), but we must have the additional two officers.  Otherwise, the organization will not be able to continue to function.
  • This is a very important organization for all it does to raise funds for and support the entire Justice HS athletic program.  It is a well administered organization whose officers make every effort to be transparent in the organization's records and decision-making.  We have a very positive relationship with the Activities Office and their incredibly supportive staff, and work cooperatively to meet our goals.
  • New leaders bring new ideas and fresh ways to realize the Boosters organization's purpose.  In some years, leaders have more available time and choose to be more hands-on with things like concessions, or planning events.  In other years, leaders have less available time so focus on what has to be done, and depend on other volunteers to pick up extra responsibilities.  Both models can work!
  • Please reach out to discuss your interests, or give us the name of a parent whom you think would make a good leader for our organization.

Thanks, and GO WOLVES!

Justice Rowing Captures Virginia State Championship Medals

Out of six entries at the Virginia State Championships, Justice Rowing placed 4th twice and second three times! Opening the day, our Women’s Junior Double (Ashley Forrest, Gretchen Hardy) overcame a three length deficit with a fabulous finish in the heat to finish third and advance to the afternoon final. Our Men’s Junior Double (Nick Kish, David Caudillo) also finished third in their heat on the strength of hard strokes at a lower rating to advance to the final. Sadly, they were unable to compete in the final. For the afternoon finals, the Women’s Senior Double (Chloé Bernasconi, Ella Stavlund) rowed a furious 37 strokes a minute for the entire race to hold off Hylton by 1.6 seconds to finish 2nd. The Women’s Junior Double just missed out on medaling in the finals, finishing fourth in a very competitive and large field. Our Women’s Senior Quad (Indigo Brookes-Weis, Sabrina Ehmann-Jones, Brooke Ehmann-Jones, Anna Lyons) reversed the results from two weeks ago to beat Western Albemarle by 8.6 seconds and finish second. The Men’s Senior Quad (Stephen Blackadar, Sam Schneider, Tucker Trissell, Charlie Hess) nearly caught Western Albemarle and distanced themselves from Albemarle to finish 2nd. In our last race of the day, the Women’s Junior Quad just missed out on medaling, finishing fourth in a very fast event where all of the top three finishers would have medaled in the Senior Quad.

This week the team travels to the Stotesbury Cup Regatta (the largest high school regatta in the world) where our Women’s Junior Quad, Men’s Junior Double, and Women’s Senior Double will compete against the top crews in the eastern half of the country.

Row Strong!
