Greetings, Team Langston Hughes:
This week, we celebrated our awesome teachers for their dedication, selflessness, and commitment to LHMS’ finest – our students. Our PTA truly made our teachers feel special – THANK YOU!
Additionally, SOL testing is going extremely well. Continue to ensure your child reports with their school-issued laptop fully charged and a good night’s rest. Encourage your child to do their best!
Finally, June is quickly approaching and marks the end of the school year! I want to thank you for your continued support, dedication, and commitment. We’ve accomplished much this year. Let’s end the year on a high note! I hope to see you at our end-of-the-year activities.
Yours in education,
Principal Mizell

Expunging a High School Credit Course Taken in Middle School
High school credit courses taken in middle school become part of the student’s high school transcript and are included in the GPA calculation. Students who have taken a high school credit course in middle school are able to expunge the grade and remove the course from the transcript.

Courses taken in the summer session following student promotion from the eighth grade are ineligible for removal from the high school transcript.
Summer Online Campus
Middle and high school students who meet the course prerequisites can take one online course. Students who have completed a high school math course may take an online campus math class. Middle school students who expunged a high school math or Spanish course or those wanting to recover a course credit may take the course again.
Students need to have a computer and make sure their computer is ready for the online course. (Students may be assigned an FCPS laptop for summer learning to be returned at the end of the summer program.) Students will not be able to take online courses using tablets and smartphones.
Online Campus courses and classes may be cancelled if they are under enrolled. If a course or class is cancelled, students will be notified using the registration contact information and a full refund will be given.
