WSES Family Engagement Walkthrough
We received our Family Engagement Walkthrough final report, sharing those results here

In summary, our school community has many reasons to celebrate our school and community! We'll persist in working together to enhance our communication with families and foster an inclusive, inviting learning atmosphere for all students.

In pursuit of this goal, we are seeking Family Ambassadors.  The Family Ambassadors will welcome new families in their chosen grade level and offer support as they familiarize themselves with WSES and their grade level. If you're interested on becoming a Family Ambassador, kindly fill out this form. An informational meeting will be held in the Fall.

Thank you!

Selection process involves students completing the Google form to indicate their interest in becoming a Safety Patrol, teacher recommendations, and a review of citizenship grades from the current school year.

For students who apply but are not initially selected, they will be placed on a waitlist based on the specific area of need, whether it be for walker or bus duties.  If you have any questions or require further clarification, please feel free to reach out to me Wfaleman@fcps.edu.

Cell Phones/Smart Watches
We'd like to reinforce the guidelines for parents (and students) regarding Student Rights and Responsibilities concerning Cell Phones and Smart Watches.

Throughout the school day, phones should be muted and kept in backpacks. While Apple Watches/Smart Watches are permitted to be worn, features such as texting, internet browsing, and phone calls should not be used. Additionally, the use of phones, tablets, and other mobile devices is not allowed in the bathrooms. Failure to adhere to these rules may lead to disciplinary action.

Field Day
This year’s Field Day for grades K - 6 will be held on Friday, May 31st. We have been working hard to teach all the games and make sure students have all the information they need. I want to thank everyone who signed up to volunteer.  All slots are now full!  We couldn’t do this without your support.

Below is some information concerning the event for your child:

  • 3rd - 6th grade Field Day will take place in the morning from 9:20 am - 11:40 am
  • K - 2nd grade Field Day will be in the afternoon from 12:40 pm – 2:30 p.m.
  • Students should bring a water bottle for them to carry from one station to the next (no Gatorade, Juice, or Soda, only water please).
  • Students wear a hat to help with the sun.

We are looking forward to another fun-filled and successful Field Day at West Springfield Elementary this year. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Aleman (wfaleman@fcps.edu). If you would like to come watch the event, make sure to check  in at the front office first please!
