Celebrating with our Hispanic Early Literacy Program's graduation!!

Principal Message

Dear Roadrunner Families,

What a week of firsts for many families and students at Lorton Station. Earlier in the week, we experienced the end of a fantastic Hispanic Early Literacy Program semester for our three and younger students at Lorton Station, who meet weekly to work on building their early reading skills. This was followed by a great AAP Night in which our newest AAP students could speak with their teachers in grades 3 - 6 and our AAP ambassadors from the 6th grade and high school about the program. This led to a fantastic close to the week in which our 3 - 6th graders were cheered on by their classmates and watched a video created by our staff encouraging them as they prepare to take the SOLs over the next three weeks. Finally, to close out a wonderful week, we met the Class of 2036 for the first time as they took their first steps into Lorton Station, met our staff, rode the school bus, and played on the playground while experiencing a popsicle with their friends.

Next week, please join us in celebrating our entire staff at Lorton Station for all the great things they do to support our students throughout the year and for doing a job that is the most important in the world. Every student who later becomes a lawyer, doctor, CEO, or engineer began their journey in a classroom and was mentored and supported by a teacher. Please leave a thank you message for a staff member using the link below.

Warm Regards,

Dr. Legagneur, Ms. Champion, Ms. Kayes, Mr. Barton

Orthodox Good Friday

Orthodox Good Friday/Teacher Work Day

Friday, May 3, is Orthodox Good Friday, and a teacher work day. Millions of Orthodox Christians commemorate Good Friday, also known as “Great Friday” to remember the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. There will be no school for students that day. See the complete school year calendar.

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Resources for Newly Registered Families

Being connected to your school community helps you stay informed and support your child’s success. Take some time to get familiar with the many resources and tools available to FCPS families, including:

  • School Age Child Care (SACC) – This Fairfax County government program provides a safe and fun environment before and after school for elementary school-age children.
  • FCPS Communications for Families – FCPS shares news and information to support student learning and promote family involvement.
  • Family Engagement Resources – FCPS works to connect, strengthen, and support our families, schools, and communities.
  • Do You Know About Family Liaisons? Family liaisons serve as a link between families and schools. You may contact Ms. Tania Muskett, our family liaison, at tmmuskett@fcps.edu or call 571-642-6000.
