Mustang Memo 4.12.24

fourth

The fourth graders finished their Ocean PBL on protecting the coastal habitat of an endangered species.  They had to share how humans have an impact, both positive and negative, on these habitats and what they would do as an oceanographer to protect this coastal habitat. They finished by celebrating their learning by sharing with each other and fifth grade students and staff.

Note from Dr. Sheers

We are excitedly preparing our first Career Day Fair at West Springfield. Our primary goal is to introduce our students to the diverse spectrum of careers available in our community. Your insights, experience, and firsthand knowledge about your profession can illuminate the path for our students as they navigate their future career choices.

We would be honored if you could participate as a guest presenter to showcase your profession.

  • Date: Tuesday, June 3
  • Time: 2:00 - 3:00
  • Location: West Springfield ES
  • Audience: Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade Students

We will provide each guest presenter with a designated place in our cafeteria and/or upper grade hallway where you can set up displays, share materials, or even run a demonstration that best represents your profession.

Your participation would not only shed light on your profession, but also serve to inspire students, helping them to visualize potential careers. We also welcome grandparents and/or neighbors who would like to participate!

Please let us know if you can join us by completing this google form.

School Health Aide and PHN Survey
The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians of FCPS students. Parents/guardians will be asked for feedback on the level of satisfaction with School Health services provided to the school community. The survey will be distributed electronically via FCPS This Week. The survey window is April 15 - April 26, 2024. Survey link: www.redcap.link/FCHDSchoolHealthSurvey.

Survey results will provide a basis for quality improvement of School Health services. The data-driven process is in alignment with the FCPS Strategic planning process, and the survey results will contribute positively to the FCPS Strategic Plan that reflects a shared consensus among stakeholders.

Book Fair
The Spring Book Fair is approaching swiftly! It will take place from Monday, April 15th to Friday, April 19th during school hours, with an extension on Thursday until 6:30 PM for families. We warmly welcome volunteers to assist us in managing the fair, as always. Sign up here.

Scholastic is again offering families the chance to create eWallets — a digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases.  Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping.
