In Islam, Eid-al-Fitr is a three day festival to mark the end of Ramadan. Muslims dress in new clothes, give charity, and pray in congregation. Eid is celebrated with the exchange of presents and delicious food with family and friends. Read more at Britannica.com.

Tuesday, April 9, has been designated as a half-O day. Half-O days are full school days, but important events will not be held after school on those days. Wednesday, April 10, is an FCPS holiday and all schools and offices will be closed. See the complete School Year Calendar.

The Scholastic Book Fair is returning to GBE! Our grand opening will be on Saturday, April 20 from 12-2:00 PM during the GBE Spring Bock Party. The fourth annual Feed Fairfax 5K is a fun 3.1-mile race on Saturday, May 4th at 8am, in the Greenbriar neighborhood. The race is organized with community partners to provide weekend meal kits, Power Packs, to the 1 in 6 hungry kids in Fairfax County. After your race, all participants will have the opportunity to assemble these Power Packs!!
We have Unisex, Women’s and Youth shirts available. 100% of race entry and donations from the race goes to feeding our hungry veterans. We are working hard behind the scenes to make the event exciting, fun, and family friendly. Run, walk, or volunteer—we need you!
Cannot make it out to the race on the 4th? No problem, we have you covered! You can run the 5K virtually and still get all of our amazing swag - custom shirt, custom race bib, and our finishers medal. Sign-up and select the virtual 5K option.
This is the link to sign-up to volunteer to support the event. Three days to support:
- 2 May from 4:30-6:30p to stuff race packets at Expectation Church
- 3 May from 2:45-6p to help with packet pick-up at Expectation Church\\
- 4 May, Race day at the Chantilly Planet Fitness
- 6:30-8am to support race site set-up
- 7-9am to support the race course
- 7-9:30am to support the food packing event

Our monthly Family Workshop will be held on April 17th at 10:00 AM in Trailer 2. Families can join in-person or virtually for any workshop. We will send the Zoom link the day before. The topic is going to be “Summer Learning”. In effort to provide important information as we continue our partnership as #OneGBE!

Today's Attendance rate is 85.2%.
As of today, students enrolled at the beginning of the school year that have missed 13 or fewer days of school are helping us reach our goal of 85% (percentage of students not chronically absent). Thank you for making regular school attendance a priority! We love dancing our way out of the building on Fridays at dismissal when our overall chronic absenteeism rate is below 15%!

Use PickUp Patrol to report absences
In emergencies, email or call the front office
This is a reminder to put your students' absence, arriving late, or leaving school early in Pickup Patrol (PUP). All default plans should be up to date. Make sure you change the default plan anytime you change your students' permanent dismissal. Emails and phone calls are no longer encouraged, except for emergencies. When you enter a change in PUP, it goes directly to your child’s teacher as well as our front office staff. Please remember to provide a reason for the absence, late arrival or early dismissal. Changes must be entered on PUP by 2:30pm each day. If you need assistance setting up your PickUp Patrol account, please reach out to Adriana Barreto at 703-633-6400 or aabarreto@fcps.edu.
