INFORMATION FROM YOUR ADMINISTRATION TEAM

Athletic Physicals for MS Sports

Athletic physicals are required for middle and high school student-athletes.  Beginning May 1, 2024, FCPS high schools will offer athletic pre-participation physical exams for students interested in middle school sports during the 2024-25 school year.   These events serve as the primary fundraiser for our high school athletic training programs and each exam costs $50.  Rising middle school students are eligible to receive a physical at no cost although donations to the HS athletic training program are welcomed.

Pre-registration is highly encouraged; walk-in appointments may not be available.  You can register here: Student registration.  Once your registration is received, the school’s athletic trainer will contact you to confirm your appointment time.  Athletic physical exams must be completed on this form: FCPS Middle School Sports Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Physical Examination Form (PPE).

If you are a medical professional (MD, DO, NP, PA, ATC, PT, EMT, etc.) interested in volunteering your time in support of these events, please register to help out: Volunteer registration.

Academic Advising: Parents/Guardians of current 7th Graders

Course selection sheets for rising 8th grade students were due on March 1st. Please review your child’s course requests in SIS ParentVUE (directions below) or ask your child to show you their course requests in SIS StudentVUE.

 SIS ParentVUE Directions:

  • Log into SIS ParentVUE and select “Course Request” in the left side bar.  The screen has 2 parts: Selected Course Requests and Alternate Elective Requests.  Click the blue arrow to the left of the Course Title to see the course description.
  • Please note this list is not a schedule, but a confirmation of the courses entered into SIS. *
  • Our 2024-2025 school year staffing is based on students’ course selections and your child’s selections represent a firm commitment.

*Please note that students in need of additional support may be given a support class in place of an elective. These are data-driven decisions which include SOL scores. WIDA scores, and math and reading inventory scores. Other course needs may be determined in IEP meetings.

For more information about academic advising and course selection for the 2024-2025 school year, please visit our Langston Hughes website: https://hughesms.fcps.edu/index.php/registration and contact our Director of Student Services, Michele Beard, at mbeard@fcps.edu or your student’s counselor with questions.
