Principal Message

Good afternoon Roadrunner families,

I hope everyone takes some time this week to spend extra special time with your son or daughter. While some of us may go away on vacation, this is also a great time to do a staycation with your child and experience the wonderful things the DMV has to offer every day. Here are my top five things to do in DC with my family.

Top 5 Things to Do:

1. Visit a museum: With all the Mall has to offer, a free visit to The African American History Museum is a must, but if your child loves nature, the Natural History Museum is the place to go.

2. Family: My best memories were of seeing family nearby and spending a few days with cousins and older relatives.

3. Baltimore Aquarium: a must-see for every DMV resident

4. Movie: Come on, sometimes the best times you can spend talking about a great movie you just watched, and it makes for a great lifetime connection.

5. Bike ride near the Works: The Works has a great path next to it, offering a smooth, flat ride and great scenery. If you feel adventurous, go into Occoquan Park, but be prepared for the ride back out.

Whatever you decide to do with your family, we wish you well and look forward to seeing you on April 3rd.

Warmest Regards,

Your Principals

Dr. Legagneur, Ms. Champion, Ms. Kayes, Mr. Barton

A joyful Easter to all in our community who celebrate! This year's Easter artwork was created by Falls Church High School student Dayanara M. The springtime celebration of Easter is the most important Christian holiday. It commemorates the resurrection of Jesus, who sacrificed so that Christians may have life with God after death. #OurFCPSThis artwork was designed as part of the FCPS Observance Design Challenge for Students. It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Our school typically conducts kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring during March or April. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan, so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

Prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms. We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For more information in other languages, visit FCPS’ Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Passover

Many Jewish communities in the United States celebrate Passover, a recognition of the deliverance of Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. Passover is also known as Pesah, Pesach, or the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Many Jewish families in the United States eat a ceremonial meal known as the Seder, which involves telling the story of the exodus from Egypt as well as eating various symbolic foods, such as meat of the paschal lamb and bitter herbs, recalling the harsh life of slavery.
