RVES Family Newsletter March 22

March 22 - Family Newsletter

Rolling Valley Families,

We are heading into spring break after a fun-filled week! This week started with our many RVES Rockin’ Robins participating in Ballin with Buddies! We had a great turnout of students, families, and staff this past Saturday at WSHS! Thanks to Jennifer Clark for all her efforts in organizing the Rolling Valley team!

This week the 4th-grade students enjoyed a symphony at the Kenndy Center, and the 3rd graders enjoyed a field trip to the National Children’s Museum, while all students had the opportunity to hear from Ralph Masiello during his author visit! Some pictures of all the smiles are included below.

We hope everyone has a fun and safe spring break and look forward to seeing everyone on April, 3! A reminder that Kindergarten Orientation is on Tuesday, April 2, from 3-4 pm.

Spring Break Reading Challenege

We love reading at Rolling Valley and no break is complete without a reading challenge! In your child’s Friday Folder this week is a paper to have your child fill out 10 books/chapters they read over break. Return the paper to school by Friday, April 5th for a prize! You may also download and print a copy from the Rolling Valley website. This is a completely optional activity, but we always encourage reading! Please email Mrs. Reynolds at slreynolds2@fcps.edu with any questions.

Author/Illustrator Ralph Masiello visited Rolling Valley

This week and presented to the entire student body. A big thank you to the PTA for sponsoring the event! Ralph shared that he never wanted to be an artist when he was younger but his teachers saw something in him even before he did. He learned from famous illustrators like Chris Van Allsburg and has been illustrating children’s books for almost 40 years. Ralph shared his favorite way to be creative with his drawings is to ask, “What if?” He told us, “Everybody has ideas. It’s what you do with your ideas that’s important.” To learn more about him, visit https://www.ralphmasiello.com/.

FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form

On Monday, March 18, Rolling Valley parents/guardians will be sent an email containing a link to complete the online FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form. This questionnaire is part of the VDOE-mandated Performance Evaluation Program for principals and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include how the principal demonstrates/impacts instructional leadership, school climate, management, communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, and professionalism within the school.

The questionnaire will be administered between March 18 and April 5. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your feedback matters!
