Principal Message

Dear Terraset Families,

It is hard to believe that Spring Break is just around the corner!  We hope that you are able to enjoy this time with much fun, relaxation, and rest. When staff return we will be hosting our kindergarten orientation event on April 2nd from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you have a rising kindergartener please plan to join us and share with others you know that have a rising kindergartener!

Also, please note that the Terraset main office will be closed during Spring Break.

Warmly,

Katie Aldridge, Principal

Dave Ickowski, Assistant Principal

🗓️Important Calendar Reminders

March 25-29 is Spring Break. Schools and school offices will be closed. We wish our students and teachers a happy and restful Spring Break!  There will be no school for students on April 1 and 2 for school planning/teacher work days. See the complete school year calendar

Lost and Found Items - Please Claim Before Spring Break

Families, our Lost & Found is overflowing with jackets, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, and other miscellaneous items. Is your student missing anything? We will donate or dispose of any unclaimed items after March 22nd.

Kindergarten Registration Appointment Sign-Up

Hello rising kindergarten families! When you have your student’s paperwork ready to submit, please use this link to schedule an appointment with Ms. Johnson, the school's Registrar.

The medical information (physical and immunization record) can be submitted prior to August 19, 2024. All documents are required to ensure your child is ready to start on the first day.

If the selected dates don’t work for your schedule, contact Ms. Johnson via email smjohnson2@fcps.edu or by phone 703-390-5602 to make other arrangements.

Ramadan Requests

Throughout the year, as we celebrate and recognize various cultural holidays and observances, families are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher regarding accommodations, including but not limited to those around lunch, prayer/meditation and silent reflection spaces and times, and instruction.  Please complete this form to provide consent for your child to miss instructional time for prayer during Ramadan.

✅ Take the Family Engagement Survey

If you haven’t already, please take FCPS’ Family Engagement Survey today! Survey results will help us to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our school community. Survey topics include:

  • Welcoming environment
  • Communication
  • Student success
  • Advocacy
  • Family and school partnerships
  • Community partnerships

The survey is available in 10 languages. Please check your email for a message from FCPS partner, K12 Insight, with a link to the survey or access the survey now. Your voice matters!

☀️ Safely View the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8

A total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, and will be viewable, depending on weather, in Fairfax County. The eclipse will begin in our area around 2:04 p.m. and end around 4:32 p.m., with the maximum eclipse occurring around 3:20 p.m.

Because the timing overlaps with dismissal, it is crucial that students understand the importance of safe viewing practices. We encourage families to review these Solar Eclipse Resources, especially the eye safety information. We hope everyone takes the opportunity to learn more about this extraordinary natural phenomenon while prioritizing safe solar viewing.

Information nights will provide an opportunity to learn about individual school programs, student eligibility, the lottery process, and transportation.
