Welcome, Maura Cotter!

Please join me in welcoming Maura Cotter to Fairhill ES as our new Assistant Principal! Ms. Cotter has an official start date of April 1st.

Prior to joining us at Fairhill, Ms. Cotter served as the Special Education Department Chair at Mason Crest ES (MCES) since 2018. During her time as department Chair, she transformed the special education department at Mason Crest both instructionally and procedurally. Under her leadership, she led the expansion of SPED programs to include nearly every service offered within the FCPS continuum. Maura has a proven track record of doing whatever it takes to meet students' academic and social needs under her leadership.

Beyond her experience with Special Education, Ms. Cotter has been a model of collaboration within her school community. She has led teachers to engage in professional learning to stay on the cutting edge of current practices in our field. Ms. Cotter has a tremendous amount of experience with student wellness, including supporting attendance, discipline, and providing targeted social and emotional instruction.

Outside of school, Ms. Cotter’s greatest joy comes from being a proud aunt and she enjoys spending time with her large family, reading, and traveling.

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Maura Cotter to our Fairhill Family.

Tutor.com Dashboard

  • Tutor.com Teacher-Referred Tutoring Through Schoology®, all FCPS students have 24/7 access to no-cost, year-round, on-demand, 1-to-1 tutoring services through Tutor.com.

A new Teacher-Referred Tutoring program feature provides targeted support and extends student learning. Teachers can now refer students for tutoring, with their specific needs already identified. Students can get extra support — on their own schedule — and reinforce their in-class learning.

Caregivers can guide students to access expert tutoring, homework help, and writing support by clicking on the Tutor.com icon in their Schoology portal—anytime, anywhere.

Plus, look for teachers’ tutoring session referrals on the Tutor.com homepage.
